Do you wonder about how your baby’s brain may be shaping up as he enters the world? Are you looking for ways to aid your baby’s brain development? Well, if you can relate to any of the above situations reading this post is a must.
The brain controls all our functions. The neurons communicate with each other chemically and overtime form neural pathways. These connections form through what the infants experience in the first few years of their lives. Can parents help boost their baby brain development? Absolutely! Read on to know more.
1. Nurture Them Well:
Good nutrition is a must for babies. This helps in baby brain development. We all need it throughout our lives. But when it comes to infants, lack of nutrition can slow their brain development and in extreme cases even lead to permanent damage. Breastmilk provides all the necessary nutrients to babies for the first few months of their lives. When it’s time to introduce solid food to your baby’s diet, follow your doctor’s guidance and introduce fruits, vegetables, and iron-rich foods in his meal plans slowly yet steadily.
Nurturing goes beyond just foods. Emotional nourishment is as important for babies as physical nutrition. Create a safe and loving environment at home so that your baby only has positive experiences. These early experiences shape the way babies respond to emotional challenges in life, and this is one area where parents can help their babies develop well.

2. Introduce Stimulating Activities:
Babies respond to voices. You may sing or read to introduce your baby to a variety of syllable and sounds. These personal interaction and bonding sessions can do a lot of good to your baby’s brain development compared to exposing them to sounds and colors through DVDs on a screen. Using toys in bright colors with soft musical sounds is another way to enhance the baby’s brain development. At about six months of age, they are ready to knock things down. It is a good time to stimulate their sense of touch through soft toys and blocks that are big enough for them to grasp and feel. Remember, not to leave any toy near your baby without any adult supervision.
3. Play And Create Games:
Brain development in infants can be enhanced through games. Games like peek-a-boo are a favorite among babies. But you can get creative here and develop your unique games to aid your baby’s brain development. Create games where you can encourage your infant to identify colors, shapes and sounds. They may not react by touching the color red when you say the word, but their brains would gradually process the information. In due time, they would begin to respond to various stimuli. You can do such activities when your baby is between six months and two years of age.

4. Include Outdoor Activities:
Don’t keep your infant indoors all the time unless otherwise recommended by a doctor. Let them feel the breeze, hear different sounds and observe the world around them. Let them feel the grass and flowers. If you live near areas where there are many birds, your baby can hear and observe different bird songs.
5. Use Parental Power:
Brain development in babies can also be enhanced via parental power. For babies, no sound can replace the soothing sounds of the parents. The cooing of a mother and the sounds of a sweet lullaby can aid a baby’s brain development by strengthening the neural pathways. When your baby learns to touch, let him feel your face and hands. Cuddles and hugs also play a significant role in infant brain development. Toddlers between the ages of two and three years can learn a lot from the way their parents talk and use words. It is a great way to introduce them to positive words.
A baby’s brain development doesn’t necessarily need expensive toys or fancy gadgets. Simple sounds, games, words and a nurturing environment is all they need to grow up into smart adults.
