Diapers

  1. Diapers and diaper bin: Keep a good stock of diapers at home. Buy a nice basket for keeping the diapers, cotton soft clothes, and baby wipes. Keep it handy so that it’s easy for you to reach. Diaper bin is essential to bin the soiled diapers. Keep a diaper rash cream at home to be on the safe side.
  1. Wipes: You will need plenty of wipes to clean your baby. So, stock them up. You can also use cotton swabs or reusable wipes as they are safe and rash-free.
  1. Diaper bag: Don’t stuff the baby diapers in your handbag just because it’s convenient. Have a separate bag for diapers.
  1. Diaper Changing Sheet: Diaper changing sheet is what you will need when you visit a hospital or travel elsewhere. You don’t want to put the baby directly on the platform, instead, place the diaper changing sheet on the counter and then change your baby’s diaper.

Clothes

  1. Clothes for baby: Your tiny tot will need pajamas, bodysuits, sweater, cap, booties and socks, bibs, burp cloths, and hooded towels. Try having them around, almost always.
  1. Swaddle blanket: Swaddling keeps your baby warm, comfortable, and gives a womb-like feeling. You might want to buy two so that you could alternate. Buy the ones that are easy to swaddle.

Travel

  1. Stroller: Stroller is the top thing on the baby’s list. Check out for a good brand, the one with enough cushioning, and also light to carry when you are traveling. You should be able to fit it in your car without any hassle.
  1. Car Seat: You will have to make those regular visits to the doctor for vaccination for the first few months. So, buy a sturdy infant car seat, so that the baby is safely supported while you drive. Just hang some toys on the top to entertain the baby.
  1. Baby bag: Diapers are not all – you need to carry a sipper, a set of clothes, baby sheets, and a few toys. So having a great baby bag with enough space serves the purpose.
  1. Carrier: Baby might not want to lie down in the stroller all the time, so you will have to hold him in between. Carrier can keep him close to you, and the baby feels safe and reassuring.
  1. Crib: Baby needs his own space to sleep after a few months. So have a crib in place for him to use once he is ready.

The other essentials your baby will need are:

  • Flask: A flask or thermos for storing warm water.
  • Bottlebrush: A brush with nylon bristles to clean the bottles and keep it slime free.
  • Toys: You need to engage your baby with some toys, picture books, and rattles.
  • Camera: Don’t miss out on these precious moments, so capture all those moments and cherish them forever.

The toiletries and accessories are something you would obviously buy as soon as the baby arrives, but we would like to list them out for you.

Don’t ignore yourself in the midst of nursing your baby. Take time to buy these essentials, and you will be glad you did.

  • Nipple cream: If you are breastfeeding, you are most likely to have sore and cracked nipples. So get yourself a nipple cream.
  • Breast Pump: Sometimes you may have to express milk. So, a breast pump is a must to make things easy.
  • Breast Pillow: Set your posture right while you feed with a breast pillow. It’s worth investing in.
