Breast Milk Leakage Should No Longer Bother You

Once you have become a mother, initiated breastfeeding, completed your maternity leave and it’s time to resume your work, not only you don’t have a heart to leave your baby under the care of someone else, but also you encounter an unexpected challenge at work. We are talking about BML or breast milk leakage. You could face this problem not just at your workplace but anywhere outside your home or pretty much at home, in the presence of many people whom you don’t want to give a display of your soaked shirts.

BML could be quite a worry owing to the discomfort and embarrassment it might give to several mothers. Irrespecitve of whether or not a woman chooses to nurse her baby, her body will produce breast milk right after her baby arrives into the world.

Generation of breast milk is certainly an involuntary thing to happen. Therefore, a BML is not within your control. BML happens with the breastmilk being released from the nipple in response to a reflex in lactating women called ‘letdown’ or milk ejection reflex (MER). While most of the new mothers are advised that they may expect BML for two to three weeks postpartum, the reality is that over 90% of women struggle with BML at two months postpartum and about 66% BML at six months postpartum.

Using nursing pads to soak the leakage is what breastfeeding mothers often do. However, if you don’t change these pads frequently, they would start leaking as well and wet your clothes, result in discomfort, make your nipples sore and lead to breast infections. The alternative to using breastpad is using patterned clothes to hide the leakage and breast shells that can collect milk. However, these methods are not foolproof either in keeping BML under check.

Several mothers wean off earlier than they would otherwise do because of their BML issues. Earlier lactation suppressants used to be administered to these women, but many of them are no longer available. Some would even attempt at drying up by binding elastic bandages, which can be very harmful and uncomfortable.

There is a new arrival in the market called blis or Breast Leakage Inhibitor System, which is a patented and an FDA-certified product. It is a supple and flexible disc that can control BML while ensuring your safety. It controls leakage effectively by applying gentle and even pressure on the nipple, thereby, stopping the leakage and preventing wetness on the clothing or your skin. You could wear blis throughout the day to control BML and still not feel any discomfort at times of engorgement or when a mother’s milk supply is in a slump.

In the times when women have the demands of modern lifestyle, blis comes as a blessing to address the BML issues by getting rid of any leakage worries and infusing the mother with confidence.
