1. Your Doctor

Your doctor, either a Gynecologist or an Obstetrician, is that person who probably knows exactly what’s going on inside you apart from your own self. From the time your baby is a tiny cell right until the time he/she is a full-term baby, your doctor is with you throughout; guiding you, counseling you, and eventually helping you bring your child into this world. They make a world of difference in the way they introduce you to motherhood.

2. Your Mother

No one knows a mother better than her mother. If your doctor helps you learn all the technicalities of pregnancy, your own mother helps you shape your perspective. She’s the one who knows your strengths and weaknesses; and is better positioned to guide you through your daily chores. From helping you adapt to new pee positions as your bump grows bigger to knowing the exact pressure points to alleviate your back pain, a mother simply knows how to work magic.

3. Siblings

Blessed are you if you have a sister or brother, and further blessed if they are parents already. Their idea of affection may not be like your mother’s (remember those childhood quarrels over silly stuff?), yet they are those first buddies who’ll shape your perspective towards pregnancy, albeit in a different way. From pitching in with you for your hospital visits to helping you find the perfect baby name, siblings know exactly what you are looking for. The fact that they are closer to you generation-wise makes it another advantage.

4. Your Friendly Next-Door Neighbor

Are you in a mood for the rasam that you’ve just smelt the aroma of? or that delicious bowl of cashew Kheer your neighbor makes during festivals? Your friendly next-door neighbor is only too happy to indulge you and your fluctuating food cravings. So the next time you are in a mood for some lip-smacking dessert, you know that it’s just a door-knock away.

5. Your Cubicle-Sharing Colleague

You need help getting into your work chair; they’ll hold it for you. Not in a mood to eat your tiffin? They’ll offer you theirs. Unable to perform your tasks at work as those mood swings kick in? They’ll complete it for you. Your cubicle-sharing colleagues will do all of these and much more to make your life a little more pleasant during pregnancy.

6. The House Maid

Yes, “The” housemaid! No modern household is complete without a reliable housemaid who knows every nook and corner of your house like the back of her hand. She’ll know where you dropped your pills, the last time you wore your favorite pants, and helps you move around while she ensures your house remains dust-free. She may also throw in a few of her own pregnancy wisdom for good measure.

7. Experienced Mom-Buddies

Some of your friends have already been there, done that. So, who better to share their brave adventures with but you? They’ll have an advice for almost everything under the pregnancy Sun. More specifically about spicing up your love life with your husband during ‘those days’; advice which usually comes in handy, so you don’t miss out on the fun, while you are busy becoming a mum!

These are a few of the people who we think will impact your pregnancy journey. Do let us know if you have your own list. And have fun sharing ours with your friends.
