Unbelievable: Woman Delivers Her Own Baby In Amniotic Sac In Her Car

Giving birth to a baby is no less than a miracle. We, as parents, wait for this day with anticipation, prepping ourselves for a grand ceremonious welcome. It is an experience that is simply marvellous and touches our lives in a wonderful way.

Whereas each birth is special, there are some births which are a bit more special given the rarity of their circumstances. And one such miracle birth belongs to the mum Raelin Scurry.

Her story is triply incredible. Firstly, she gave birth to her baby in a moving car, which is not a common thing. Secondly, her baby was ‘en caul’ which means, it was born completely wrapped in its amniotic sac, which is extremely rare, almost one in about 80,000 deliveries. Thirdly, what is most unbelievable is the fact that it was a vaginal birth, whereas the ‘en caul’ babies are born under strictly monitored C-Section deliveries. It is almost an impossibility to have an ‘en-caul’ natural birth without a water break.

For this reason, Raelin’s story has gained popularity in tabloids and social media.

So how did it all happen? Read further to know more about this phenomenal birth event.

Raelin had only completed 29 weeks of her gestation, and she felt some contractions. She thought it was possibly Braxton Hicks spasms and didn’t bother much. Only when the pains did not subside for a good 45 minutes, did she request her fiancé Ean to take her to the doctor.

In her Instagram account, she mentions how her pains got intensified, and she felt the urge to push the baby. She even dialed the emergency number 911 in her state of fear and panic, but they didn’t understand all that she said, her speech incoherent with her screams. Then Ean took her phone and spoke to them.

The actual turn of events happened when she pulled down her pants and felt the baby’s head between her legs. There was no time to lose. She gave one more push and the baby actually ARRIVED.

But what shocked both Raelin and Ean was the sight of the baby completely sealed in its amniotic sack. Raelin didn’t have a water break!

Though 911 had directed them to stop aside, they thought it was better to reach the hospital, in case the baby needed special assistance.

Raelin says how she feared for her baby’s life and the only thought in her mind was to “…. pray he would be OK”. She held her little baby in her hands as he was initially very still. She touched him with her thumbs and the baby responded by moving his tiny limbs, as if to assure his mummy that it was fine and he was going to be ok.

By the time they reached the hospital, the baby was still in its delicate cover. The doctors rushed to her aid, and the sac was carefully removed, right there, outside the hospital.

Since the baby was pre-mature, he had to be admitted to the neo-natal care unit. Raelin left the baby under the care of the hospital staff.

It was Raelin’s instincts as well as her presence of mind that saved her baby from any danger. The baby was also born with a will of its own and now he is perfectly fine. In the words of his mother, “doing wonderful, all things considered.” She is very proud of her ‘miracle baby’ and feels he is indeed special and would do very good for himself.

Realin’s story tells us how destiny may have different plans for us, but as a mother, our instincts and love surpass any obstacle that our baby might face.
