This is how a baby fits in mothers womb. Mind blowing photos!

It’s amazing to hold your little one for the first time in your arms. You wouldn’t be able to believe your eyes that this cute and tiny baby was inside your womb for all 40 weeks.

How did the stomach manage it all? The food and the baby. Well, this indeed is a great mystery (if you have had constipation problems and gastric disorders). As your timely USG scan reports your baby’s accelerating weight as 800g, 2kg, 3kg … you cannot just stop looking at your baby bump and wonder how it all actually fared.

How your baby fits in your womb for the initial few weeks is not quite surprising, as you know that the baby would only be the size of a butter bean or a small fig.

In fact, in the first week, your baby would only be 0.25 inches. long, 0.25 ounces heavy and the size of a poppy seed. You would be wondering how your baby matures from the size of a peppercorn in the week five, to the size of an apple in the week 15, and from there to the size of a banana and a cabbage in weeks 20 and 30 respectively … to finally the size of a small pumpkin in the week 40 which all seems to be quite obscure when you continue staring at your big bump. Would your babies be able to stretch their legs and move up and down your womb? What would their position be?

It is true that your babies cannot stretch out their legs completely in your womb during the last few weeks because of the lack of space and if you are wondering how they adjusted in it, the Dutch birth photographer and midwife Marry Fermont comes with an answer.

How these babies fit snugly in mother’s womb.

Marry Fermont’s pictures have a rare USP and she has more than 100 such photos to her credit. In her recent blog, “The Birth of the Head” she has displayed her incredible photos and undoubtedly they went viral in no time. To begin with, here are some rare traditional shots of birth.

But that is not all. Fermont also puts together a collection of positions baby adopts while in the womb. These were mostly shot soon after their birth.

Most often, the proud dad of the newborn assists in this task because the baby’s unique pose (as was inside the womb) is a matter of curiosity for the new parents.

This is how a baby snuggles inside the mother’s comfortable womb floating in bliss. Fetal position is the most comfortable one for a newborn baby. And the reason is simple; they are used to it. This when a baby is born, midwives and doctors often ask mothers to swaddle them. So that they remain warm and don’t have much scope for movement, just like in mommy’s womb.

Keeping babies comfortable after birth is important. As they say, newborn babies sleep a lot. And unless they are comfortable, their sleep cycles will be disturbed. Isn’t it amazing to witness the tiny bundle of joy get tinier as they cuddle to feel safe?

These babies look gorgeous as they are tenderly placed in the expert hands of the midwife. Understanding these positions gives a new dimension to mother-child bonding. Pregnant women have often wondered how comfortable the baby is in her womb. Scans do give an idea, but not this clear.

Marry Fermont’s photos give a beautiful glimpse of life before birth. And what’s amazing is, the babies look gladly comfortable.

Most women love their pregnancy period, and this is a sweet way of putting those memories on glossy paper. Also, a perfect way to remember the midwife with heartfelt gratitude.
