How To Choose The Most Gentle Baby Care Products?

My experience as a new mother has been a roller-coaster ride! While I did expect my responsibilities to increase by leaps and bounds, being in charge of another life is a different ballgame altogether. The moment my boy clutched my finger in his tiny little fist, I realized that it is going to be my job to keep him safe, happy, and healthy forever. And the first taste I got of that responsibility was when I had to pick baby care products!

Standing at the supermarket aisle and trying to pick the gentlest products for my son was a task indeed! The sheer variety was so overwhelming that I didn’t know what to do. I only learned to choose the most gentle baby care products through the hard way – trial and error.

So, today I’m going to share with my fellow mommies tips on how to purchase the gentlest baby care products. Hope my experience will help you!

1. Choose brands that are clinically proven to be safe

I found most baby care products with the bold stamp of ‘clinically tested’. But what use is that if the product hasn’t been proven to be clinically safe? As a mom, I want to exclusively use products that are safe for my baby and those with the tag of ‘clinically tested’ did not prove that they’ve passed the tests of safety. In the huge supermarket aisle, I only found one brand that had ‘clinically proven’ written on it and that was Johnson’s Baby Products. Need I still say what I purchased for my baby?

2. Pick products that display their purity

I, for one, hate buying a bottle of lotion or shampoo for my baby that doesn’t come in a see-through bottle. I mean, how do you expect me to trust it’s really pure if I can’t see what’s inside? It’s not like I will be allowed to break the seal and see if the shampoo or oil are transparent with minimal colors! That’s why I started purchasing Johnson’s baby care products. Their packaging is clear, allowing me to see what’s inside so I can be sure it’s pure.

3. Be wary of fragrances

That baby smell is too hard to resist, right? Almost all of it comes from the baby products we use as mothers. While I’m all for that smell too, I really wasn’t too keen on the idea of enwrapping my boy in a whirl of strong aromas that could irritate him. Several of the baby products I tried seemed to have a powerful scent with no indication if it was anti-allergenic.
Apparently, products need to be IFRA certified for the aroma to classify as allergen-free. The IFRA stands for the International Fragrance Association and yet again I only found Johnson’s baby products to have that certification! That’s great because I really love that baby smell that Johnson’s products made famous!

4. Select products that are made only from essential ingredients

Since a baby’s skin is a lot more delicate than an adult’s, I had to make sure that the baby care items I purchased were indeed gentle on my little tyke’s skin. The only way was to scan the ingredients list. The names of chemicals on the back labels of several baby care products really terrified me. Parabens, sulfates, and phthalates did not sound like gentle ingredients I could trust even if they were proven to be safe. So, instead, I opted for Johnson’s baby care products as they were made of essential ingredients only that are safe for my child’s skin and completely chemical-free!

Apart from these points, I would advise young moms to also check if the baby care products you pick meet global and local safety standards. This is vital for your child’s wellbeing. Fortunately for me, my favorite Johnson’s baby care products do!
