If You Are A Disney Lover, You Will Guess These Movies (Just From A Screencap)

It could either be out of curiosity, or you just have some spare time to kill. Being a new mom, I don’t have much but how long could a quiz possibly take, eh? So if it’s a quiz on the English language, relationships or even movie trivia, I always like to go for it and often I am pleased with the results. (Vanity is definitely my favorite sin ;-)) But, recently I was stumped to see that I only got 11 out of 17 correct on a Disney movie quiz! And I thought I had seen it all!

Disney characters are classic. For example, Mickey Mouse is still as beloved as he was eight decades ago (yeah, he is as old as grandpa). Mickey, Mini, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto are the characters that we often associate with Walt Disney.

But that doesn’t mean we haven’t learned much from the other cute and cuddly characters – be it Bambi, Aladdin, Snow White, Woody (Toy Story). Even the newest entrant Anna (Frozen) – they’ve filled our minds with all kinds of unforgettable images and ideas of friendship, kindness, courage, love, and shenanigans. So it came as a bit of a shocker when I didn’t ace the quiz. Guessing the right Disney movie from the single screen cap isn’t child’s play, after all!

So what makes Disney movies so endearing to kids as well as grown-ups? Well, most of the Disney movies are entertaining. Besides good animation, I have always been attracted to the story and humor that some of the characters add. The camaraderie of Pumbaa and Timon from The Lion King and then the bromance of Woody and Buzz (Toy Story) was not just fun to watch but was also inspiring (kinda wishing someone could have my back like that).

While these are some of the movies that have been a highly successful worldwide, there are ones that we may not be familiar with, for example, Mulan, the Emperor’s New Groove or Wreak-It Ralph. With over 54 animated feature films under its wing and more in the offing, it’s hard to keep track of all Disney marvelous movies. No wonder some of the old classics are being rebooted into films– like Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.

Of course, if you have a baby, very soon you will be well versed in all Disney mumbo-jumbo. Not just movies, but even the famous Disneyland theme parks and Disney’s kids wear and accessories are a huge hit about the preschoolers and teenagers. Knowing about Disney is as important as planning your baby’s entire day schedule. It seems like a simple quiz can open a Pandora’s Box for parents like me.

In a couple of years, I will be introducing my tot to Disney cartoons as I consider them to be a safe bet compared to the horrors that cartoon channels are now dishing out in the form of Doraemon, Hattori Ninja, and Pokemon. I find them downright boring and surprisingly popular among children (pray tell me why). At the risk of sounding too forward, let me add by saying that I find Japanese anime to dull the senses. Yes, children need to be entertained but not by nonsense (I think I’ve made enough enemies for a day.)

Give me a Disney cartoon any day! Disney cartoons are colorful, lively and certainly more family friendly compared to Japanese anime. But then, to each his own! Though it doesn’t change my Disney quiz points, I’m a Disney loyalist and plan to raise my tot to be one too. But, I can show tolerance towards those who prefer the predictable pattern of anime, as long as I don’t have to be bothered by the images.
