When we think of sports and India, cricket is probably the first thing that comes to our mind. It is almost like cricket is in our DNA. Not only do we get excited each time a nail-biting cricket match is on television, but we also love the men in blue who make us proud on the field. Perhaps, that is why it makes us happy when we see our favorite cricketers being blessed with all things nice.
The famous Indian cricketer, Rohit Sharma, is the latest one to join the league of celebrity parents. His wife, Ritika Sajdeh, gave birth to a beautiful, little girl on December 30, 2018. Just in time to ring in the new year with even more happiness and joy. In fact, the elated new dad shared his daughter’s name with all of us yesterday. He took to social media to make this big announcement.
In the picture, Rohit can be seen hugging both his girls – his wife and his daughter. In his caption for this happy picture, he revealed the name of his daughter – Samaira. This name has various meanings, which includes “protected by God” and “enchanting”. And, we are pretty sure that this little princess is destined for great things in life – since her name also means “destiny”. The caption also included the lyrics of the latest popular girl anthem “Girls like you” by Maroon 5:
“I spent last night
On the last flight to you
Took a whole day up
Trying to get way up”
Here, have a look at the post yourself:
Just a couple of days back, the cricketer had also shared the first glimpse of his daughter with us. In the caption for this post, Rohit said, “Well hello world! Let’s all have a great 2019”. He returned from an ongoing test series between India and Australia on December 31, 2018, to spend time with his lovely wife and beautiful daughter. He has now joined the squad back as the team begins its preparation for the one-day series. Curious about the post? Here, take a peek:
In fact, the Australian cricketer, Michael Clarke, had earlier interviewed Rohit, where he spoke about this. He mentioned how it is going to be a game-changing moment for both of them. And, how he can’t wait to become a father. Surely, this life-changing moment can make one and all ecstatic and eager.
Rohit further spoke about how his teammates reacted after hearing this wonderful news. He said that the moment they heard that he is about to become a father, they all began to laugh. He said that the surprise was more or less because of his mannerisms and how he has been in the past. Rohit mentioned how everyone thought of him as irresponsible, though not in a serious way of course. But, he made a resolution to change things thereon.
The love between the cricketer and his wife surely makes us reinstate our faith in ‘happily-ever-afters’. Their love blossomed when Ritika began working as Rohit’s sports event manager. Both of them had to meet quite often for professional reasons. But, soon, all these work meetings transformed into love meetings. And, we all know how their love has just been growing ever since. He also proposed to Ritika in the most romantic fashion. The proposal involved a huge solitaire ring and the cricket club where he first started playing. Of course, Ritika could not say ‘no’ to this typical Bollywood proposal and they got hitched soon after.
Samaira is blessed to be born in a home filled with love. And, we wish the entire family all the happiness in the world!
PS- Can’t wait to see more pictures of the little princess, Samaira!
