Ask any expecting mother and she will vouch for how ultrasounds are just the best thing ever. After all, it gives them a sneak peek into what their babies might be up to while in the womb. However, it is also an intense emotional roller-coaster ride. Have you ever found yourself feeling overwhelmed soon after the scans? You may have spent hours analyzing a scan to figure out if something is worrisome. And, it would have done nothing but scared you even more than before. However, most of the times, babies do certain scary things during an ultrasound that are pretty normal. Here, we bring you some of them:
1. Something Like A Tiny Devil
Many parents talk about a particular instance where their little ones turned their face in the direction of the ultrasound wand, looking like some sort of a tiny devil. If this has happened to you, don’t worry. This doesn’t at all indicate anything wrong about the cute, little angel that you will be giving birth to.
2. Doesn’t Really Look Like A Baby
For this one, media can be blamed to a certain extent. All these movies and TV shows give us this unrealistic expectation that your first ultrasound is going to be the most surreal experience ever. But, it is pretty common for babies to look like a human blob in the first few scans. Especially, if the scan happens somewhere around eight weeks or so.
3. Play ‘Hide And Seek’
It is pretty normal to not spot your tiny angel in the first few ultrasound scans. Remember how Rachel from ‘Friends’ freaked out when she could not find her baby in those scans? Yes, what our fave girl ‘Rachel’ experienced might happen to you too. More so if you are going for your scans even before eight weeks of gestation. At this time, your little one is too small to be properly visible, even though he/she is right there.
4. Keeps Rolling Around
Once your baby grows up a little, you will notice him/her doing somersaults. On other occasions, you will see him/her flopping around. You might get scared thinking that your little one is sad or in distress. But, mostly, he/she will just be playing around.
5. Still As A Statue
On one hand, your little angel will be more hyper than ever. But, on the other hand, he/she will just chill and do nothing at all. Though it gets parents worried if their kids are doing alright. But, it is just them being calm. Or, perhaps they are sleeping. But, this doesn’t indicate that something is wrong.
6. Lying In An Unusual Position
After watching all these TV shows and movies, you might expect your little infant to just be lying on his/her back and sucking the thumb calmly. But, that’s not always the case. At times, you will find him/her lying down on the belly. And, at times, you’ll even see your baby perform these weird dance moves. So, yes, there are a lot more positions you can find your angel in apart from the usual expected one.
7. See Them Flinching
As we all know that babies keep growing inside the womb, so do their reflexes. So, in a later phase, you might even observe your little one responding to your voice. You will also see him/her flinch. But, it is not out of distress. Your baby is just going about the day, giving his/her normal reactions.
8. Kick The Transducer Away
In one of these scans, your little one might kick right at the wand to your complete surprise. If it happens more than once, you might even get worried that the transducer is troubling him/her. However, more often than not, the kick is not directed towards the wand. It is just the “normal” kicks that you experience throughout the day.
