When you see a parent, you can easily tell if they have experience being parents or are new to the shenanigans of parenthood. Parents who have experience with children know how to navigate their day and balance their lives outside of being parents. With new parents, they are always exhausted, sleepy, cranky, and even irritable. No doubt that they love their baby with all their heart and soul, but parenthood struggles are stronger and deeper with new parents. They are nervous, scared, and always worrying about doing the right thing for their baby. If you could relate to these emotions, don’t worry, you are a new parent. Scroll down to read the 9 hilarious signs that prove that you are a new parent:
1. Nipple Drama
You’re not the shy or modest woman you used to be ever since you pushed a baby out of you. When it’s time for feeding, you pop out your breasts and shove your nipple in your baby’s mouth, irrespective of who is watching or not. The number of people who have seen your nipples in the past three months is more than the total number of people who have seen them in your whole life (before you became a mommy). But you don’t care because you gotta feed your baby.
2. Poop Becomes An Integral Part Of Life
You probably thought to yourself, “How hard can it be to deal with poop? I’ve been doing it my whole life”. But you were so wrong. Because now you’re cleaning poop off places you never imagined. Like walls, tables, slabs, and tablet screens.
3. Shame? What’s That?
When you’re a new parent, you are so busy taking care of your baby that you forget what it means to be embarrassed. It isn’t the first time you pick up cookie crumbs from inside your bra and eat it, and it won’t be the last.
4. Sucks To Be A Pediatrician, Huh?
New parents are the pediatricians’ worst nightmare. Literally. You call them up in the middle of the night because your baby is crying, but it’s probably because they have a booger in their nose. You don’t care if it’s 12 a.m or 2 a.m. All you care about is why they are not sound asleep like they should be. You don’t care who you have to wake up for that to happen or whose hate list you get on.
5. Your Baby Bag Replaces Your Handbag
Gone are the days when you carried fancy handbags with stylish outfits. The accessory you carry now is the big baby bag with all the baby essentials stuffed into it. You don’t care if you forgot your sunglasses, sunscreen, or lip balm, but god forbid you forget to carry clean diapers, rash cream, or your baby’s favorite binky.
6. You Compete With Your Baby
You heard us right. You get into a competition with your baby… can you guess what kind? That’s right – the crying one! You burst into tears on more than one occasion that you’d like to admit. The other day it was because your baby didn’t sleep enough, yesterday it was because you ran out of baby diapers, and today it was over a car seat.
7. Display Signs
Do you wonder how people guess that you’re a new parent with a single look at you? Well, apart from the complete look of exhaustion and sleeplessness on your faces, you walk around with tiny pieces of clothing stuck to your butt, back, or arms.
8. You Crush Your Fears
As a new parent, you don’t have the option or time to be scared of the things that creeped you out before. The lizards, cockroaches, and spiders that you ran away from before do not faze you anymore. You crush them with your bare hands if they are in the way of your parenting.
9. Perpetually Sleepy
You don’t have the time to take a solid nap or get a good night’s sleep, so you take any opportunity you get to sleep. It doesn’t matter where, when, or how. You can fall asleep on the toilet, while in a meeting, even while taking a shower because you don’t sleep when your baby is around.
We know that parenthood is not easy, but to see that you are not alone in the struggles has got to give you a sense of comfort. We hope this article was relatable and brought a smile to your face. Share it with fellow parents to let them know that they are not alone!
