Turns Out, If You Want To Have A Boy, Eat This!

You have heard that the position of the moon and the stars, the direction of the wind or even the timing of conception can help in determining the sex of your baby! Yes, old-wives’ tales are that crazy and there’s practically no dearth of them! But have you heard that eating a banana can most likely make you have a boy? Well, if you thought that there was no element of truth in this wild myth, think again.

According to a study recently published by The Royal Society, the diet of a mother before she conceives possesses the potential to affect the gender of her baby [1]. But just not anything will be able to increase your chances of having a boy. You will have to have a diet rich in potassium, and there are no points for guessing that one of the fruits richest in potassium is a banana.

This study analyzed the eating habits of 740 British women. Researchers took into account their diet during their first pregnancy and found out that the diet of the mother and the sex of the baby she’s pregnant with are interrelated to a certain extent.

The study further discovered that women who gave birth to baby boys had actually consumed higher amounts of potassium during and before conception, establishing this as the main link between the diet of the mother and the gender of the baby.

The same research also found out that mothers-to-be who had a lot of breakfast cereal before they conceived also had high chances of having a boy. So if you want a tastier way to have a little tyke in your arms, it’ll be better to have a bowl of banana cereals than that bitter herbal tea.

That said, your diet is not the only thing that can influence the sex of your future baby. There are a couple of other factors too that can tip the scales in favor of either boy or girl. Read on to find out.

If you opt for IVF to conceive, the technique you use can have a role to play in determining the gender of your baby [2]. A study conducted by the University of New South Wales of Australia, found that the chances of having a boy were fewer via intracytoplasmic sperm injection while the same increased when going for standard IVF.

Family history

Believe it or not, family history plays a big role in determining the gender of your unborn child. The thing is certain families may have a genetic predisposition for either of the sexes. And this depends not on you but on your man’s family tree. Yes, the father’s gene can help determine the sex of your baby [3].

The time of conception

The timing of your conception can actually play a part in determining the sex of your baby [4]! If you and your partner have sex closer to your monthly ovulation, your chances of having a boy will increase. However, this theory is questionable so take it with a pinch of salt.

While these factors can help you influence the gender your baby will be born in, they still cannot determine it. So, don’t get your hopes up and try them to have a baby of one or the other gender. In the end, it’s your baby and their gender shouldn’t make you love them any less.
