Wife Includes Late Husband In Maternity Shoot

Stephanie Summers was five months pregnant when she lost her paramedic husband, Tauberan, who died in a plane crash transferring a cancer-ridden patient, according to a Fox 10 report.

But, Stephanie had help! An Arizona-based photographer devised a memory of Stephanie’s husband; a memory she thought she’d never have. The photographer fashioned a family portrait, with the late husband to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his tragic death. Summers chose the pictures that the couple had taken to celebrate a wedding anniversary to be edited into a family album.

Laura Gordillo, Summers’ photographer, contacted the young widow for an earlier shoot saying that she wanted to click some new images, apart from dressing her son to match the color scheme from their original photos.

Following a photo session, Gordillo applied editing techniques to include Taurean in the pictures along with his wife and son who has been named after his father.

The image has been shared over 7,000 times on Facebook.

Gordillo even wrote on her Facebook page as to how her heart broke to see that the picture could have been a reality, but then she was also happy to have such a fantastic picture of Stephanie and her son. About Summers’ reaction Gordillo wrote that she had emailed her saying that she couldn’t stop crying and that she simply loved it. She stated that it had hurt her so much, and she missed her husband so much and that she knew he would have loved the picture equally well.

More recently, photographer Conley did something similarly heart-warming by including the late husband of Mississippi-based mom Nicole Bennett in her pictures. Nicole gave a green signal for the photo shoot with her four-year-old son Landen. Every picture captured had been edited to show the late father looking over the family and refusing to leave their side at all times.

Nicole’s husband Deonte passed away a few months before her second baby was born. So she decided to include her husband in every photo to make his presence be felt forever. In including him in the pictures, she hopes her children will come to remember and know their father. According to Nicole, “it’s capturing memories for her son of his father while for her daughter, who will never meet her dad, it’s memories as well”.

Nicole and her husband had discussed the possibility of having a maternity photo shoot before his death. With their first son born at 32 weeks, they didn’t get the opportunity earlier. But, following her husband’s death, she made up her mind to go ahead with the photo shoot, but this time, he would be the angel watching over the family. In Nicole’s words, Deonte is an angel now, and she has included an angel in the pictures.

So, Conley photoshopped Deonte into the photographs, hoping to make Nicole happy. And, the images moved her to tears. Conley admits to making quite a few edits to the pictures he had to work with.

In Nicole’s opinion, the pictures were simply ‘perfect’. And, with more than 100,000 shares on Facebook, the internet thought so as well.

It’s incredible how true love can bind a family together, and pictures like these simply immortalize the family bond. Thanks to the technology.
