Our mothers have been our constant companions from the time we are born. They have stood by our side through good and bad, and always take the best care of us. On Mother’s Day we get the opportunity to show our love and appreciation to this awesome lady in our lives. For those of us living under the same roof with our moms, we can always take her out for dinner , a movie, or someplace which she loves going to. However, for those who are away from home, it’s not possible to be by her side on this special day. This does not mean that you can’t do something special for her though. We are in the age of technology where communication is easy and if we use our imagination well, so put on your creative cap and try to come up with some awesome ways to make your mom feel special. Let’s look at ways you can celebrate Mother’s day virtually and still make it memorable:
1. Order A Cake For Her
A birthday celebration is incomplete without a cake. Thankfully in today’s digital age, it’s easy to order cakes online and deliver it right at her doorstep. Whichever city or town your mom resides in, check online for cakes and do it a few days in advance. Put a beautiful message on the cake to make her feel extra special.
2. Send Her Flowers
You might not be able to visit your mom on Mother’s Day, but you can send her a bouquet to express your love and appreciation. You can also take it up a notch by sending her a flowering plant, especially if she enjoys gardening. Attach a sweet little note to it, and you’ve got yourself a heartfelt gift.
3. Order Her Favorite Food
Your mom probably cooks for you all the time. On Mother’s Day, order some of her favorite food and let her take a break from the kitchen. If you’re not around to cook for her, no biggie. Just send some food her way from wherever you are, and she will really appreciate it.
4. Enjoy A Movie Marathon
Set up a virtual movie night and binge-watch some of her all-time favorites. Whether you’re a movie person or a television series person, there are plenty of them out there to watch with your mother. You can even revisit some of your childhood favorites and rehash some memories.
5. Put On A Talent Show
If your mom is far away and yearns to be around you and her grandchildren, this could be the perfect way to make her day. Set up a virtual call and put on a talent show for your mother. Watching her grandchildren sing, dance, recite poetry, or tell her stories will surely make her day extra special. It’s a foolproof plan, we guarantee!
6. Create Art
Be it a simple painting that you made for your mom or a playlist with all her favorite songs; you could get your creative juices flowing. If you’re good with your hands, make her a simple DIY art and craft project or sketch out something meaningful for her. If your mom loves music, create a special playlist for her and send it to her. We are confident that she’ll appreciate the gesture!
7. Send Her A Gift Basket
It might sound like a cliche, but giving your mom a personalized gift basket will not only make Mother’s Day special, but it will also give you the chance to show her how well you know her and how much you care for her. Put together things she loves like a saree, her favorite book, some skincare and haircare products, nail paint, and maybe even some jewelry.
8. Make Her A Video
If you have the time and resources to create a video for your mother, we bet she will never forget it. You could make a video by stitching together photos and videos of your mom’s life, from her childhood to her present. Be sure to include funny and embarrassing moments as well to keep it light. Because the chances are that your mom is probably going to shed a few happy tears while you take her on a trip down memory lane.
9. Set Up A Group Zoom Call
There might be many friends of your mom’s who she does not speak to regularly or have lost touch with. Arrange a surprise and request them to join in wishing her on her special day. Why not list out some of the people you would like to have on a group call and surprise you mom with a video call. Your mom can cut the cake during the call as well and everyone gets to sing her happy birthday virtually.
10. Take Out Time To Have A Good Conversation
In our busy lives sometimes we just forget to give our parents enough time. This becomes all the more common when we are away from home. We just resort to a few calls a week and that too ends up being a formality after a while. Mother’s day is the perfect time to spend some time talking with your mom. No matter how busy you are, take out some time to spend with her virtually. And make it a video call for better communication. Talk about old memories and funny incidents. Ask her about her hobbies and how she is spending her days. Also, if there is some undercurrent of worries, tell her to share it with you. A heartfelt talk can help people cope with their problems better. And be sure to continue such conversations every now and then and not only on Mother’s day.
