Baby Born Onboard Gets Airline Name

What happens when a baby is born in flight? The mother names him after the airline. The bigger coincidence strikes when the family name of the baby is the same as the name of the airline!

This pregnant woman, who was flying from Singapore to Myanmar on 22 April on Jet Star, unexpectedly gave birth on the airline once the flight landed in Yangon. As she went into labor, she was assisted by the cabin crew and three doctors who were on board.

As a token of gratitude, the mother named her baby Saw Jet Star, as a tribute to the crew. Coincidentally and luckily her own family name is Star, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The airline said that they were elated at the competence of the crew in helping the woman and ensuring a safe delivery of their “youngest ever passenger on a flight”.

The other passengers on the plane welcomed the little passenger guest with a round of applause. The airline staff said that it was a moment that they would never forget.

The airline has offered the family baby supplies worth SGD$1000 to mark the birth.

Jetstar Asia permits women to travel up to the end of their 40th week if the flight is less than four hours.

Jetstar took to social media announcing the birth of the child and crediting their customer service manager Saw Ler Htu for taking utmost care and concern for the passenger and seeking medical assistance on board.

The airline was also in appreciation of the medical practitioners who stepped in to deliver the child.

Both the mother and the child are in good health and have been discharged from a local hospital in Yangon.
