7 Ways Breastfeeding Makes You Insane

No sooner have you gone through the surprise of delivering your child, your breasts begin to lactate. Breastfeeding is an incredible experience. It nourishes your baby and helps your baby bond with you. But let’s face it. Along with the beauty of being able to breastfeed come a number of unwelcome experiences that can make you go totally insane.

1. You Will Hate The Nurses Who Come To Help You And Your Baby

Many women find it difficult to hold the baby in the right position for feeding. When you are still there at the hospital, you will most likely be surrounded by paramedics who will be at your feeding session. So while you would have expected the first time feeding to be a solo go, it might not always happen that way. You will want to protest the lady there telling, “This is how you must hold your baby,” as there will also come some touches here and there in getting your arms and the baby in a comfortable position.

2. Your Boobs Don’t Belong To You

Honestly, you are a factory – one of making and gestating the baby, and two – of making milk for your baby. You don’t stop here. Your baby will ask you to wake up at odd hours when you are still catching up with your sleep deprivation. If you don’t wake up, his will stretch out his arms and those tiny fingers – but this time, they are just as good as an octopus’s tentacles – and spot the source of milk. Your baby will turn its head towards you and stretch out like a spring much to your amusement. Sure your little guy is clever at the maneuver, and you must yield no matter what, wherever and whenever.

3. Your Breasts Are No Longer Your Private Assets

It becomes pretty uncomfortable for a lot of women to feed their child in public. Stares and glances are anticipated. You are perhaps mentally prepared for the same, but you still can’t digest that look of “What the hell are you doing here.”

4. You Are Terrified Of Who Can See Your Breasts

You will want to hide – not just your assets, but also your face. Seriously you don’t want anyone to associate you with your boobs the next time they see you. You don’t want them to see you breastfeeding – it’s a very private affair that you think must be restricted to you and your baby. And should someone happen to see the very ‘sanctified’ process, you don’t want them to think, “Oh, I know you were a milking cow the other day,” on your next encounter.

5. Your Bra Size Goes Up

Like it or hate it, your boobs size go up and so does the bra size. Great if you are an ardent Pamela Anderson follower. But think this – you will have to do away with the old tight-fitting shirts. Your wardrobe will need a massive revamp unless you will be happy to wear shirts with your assets peeping out of the buttonholes!

6. You Worry About The Amount You Are Churning Out

At times, your baby will have hunger pangs and will so frequently demand its feed that you will worry if you are producing the adequate amount of milk. You will have your doctor give you signs that you are producing just copious amounts. But the worry won’t go. Did the doctor lie to me? Was he simply pacifying me? But I have been grazing like a cow!

7. Your Baby Would Have Grown And Your Might Still Be Feeding

Seriously, you wouldn’t realize until someone asked you to stop feeding your baby. “It’s high time you stop putting him on your feed,” if this is what you heard from someone; it means you never knew how fast your baby was growing. You are actually feeding a toddler. And he still appears to you like the baby who was born to you over a year ago!

The emotions attached to breastfeeding are bizarre. But we can say for sure, these picks have stirred you pretty much during your nursing days. Write back to us about the kind of thoughts you carried. We would love to hear from you.
