Make exercise a part of your everyday routine. You might think exercising during pregnancy is not suitable for you, but with proper guidance, it’s a great way to stay healthy. There are specific exercises that you can do to keep your muscles and joints supple. Always consult your doctor to know what’s right for you and ensure you do not overexert yourself. Stretches, yoga, and light exercise are recommended. You can also join a Lamaze class.

2. Regular Medication

When you’re with a child, you have to ensure that you are getting the proper nutrition required for your baby’s healthy growth. Some women become anemic or face vitamin deficiency. Therefore, when you visit your doctor, they will give you medicines and supplements to keep you and your baby healthy. Do not skip taking them. Ensure that you take the dosage as per your daily requirement. Avoid self-medicating as it could lead to complications.

3. Eat The Right Food

If you eat the right food, you probably will not need supplements or other medications. Eat a well-balanced diet rich in protein, calcium, iron, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. Include fruits, green leafy vegetables, nuts, and dry fruits in your diet. Don’t forget to hydrate and avoid deep-fried foods, excess sugar, and oil. Another thing to remember is to wash your hands with antibacterial soap before you handle food. Alcohol and cigarettes are a strict no.

4. Clean Your Home

An adult can live in a slightly unclean house, but a newborn baby cannot. Your baby’s immune system is not as strong as yours, and that makes them prone to falling sick or catching infectious diseases. Fill your home with disinfectants and antibacterial soaps. You can also install an air purification system in your home (or at least the baby’s room) to keep allergens out. If you have pets, make sure they are clean and tick-free.

5. Baby Room

Getting a room ready for your baby is one of the most exciting things you can do when you’re an expectant parent. Make use of items that are safe and preferably environment friendly. Don’t use chemical-rich paints that produce harmful fumes that might affect your baby. You don’t have to buy a new cradle if you already have one but make sure it’s properly cleaned and disinfected before you start using it for your newborn. Avoid using flowers and plants to decorate your baby’s room as it may cause allergic reactions and might be fatal for your baby.

Many parents do everything to take care of their unborn child but forget to take care of themselves. Apart from diet, exercise, and getting enough rest, there are other ways to care for yourself while waiting for your little munchkin to arrive. Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
