Whenever we think of having babies in future, we almost mechanically calculate that it’ll have to be in our early-to-mid 20s or early 30s at the most. Not that there’s anything wrong in it. However, quite often women put their thriving careers into the back burner or battle relationship issues just for the sake of having a baby ‘at the right time.’ This could be attributed to the belief that a woman’s ticking biological clock makes it difficult for her to conceive at a prime age of 30s and above. But breaking this ‘biological clock’ challenge is what some of our celebrities have done. By conceiving and delivering a healthy baby in late 30s, they’ve become an inspiration of sorts for all those women who are in their late 30s and haven’t given up hopes of having a baby soon. Here are some of them:

Gul Panag

When Gul Panag delivered her son a few months back, she made headlines. Reason: she was 39! Gul Panag has always been known as a fierce woman who is vocal in her opinions. After delivering her son – Nihal, she often spoke about a woman’s choice when it comes to having a baby. She believes that women should consider becoming a mother only when they are ready for it, irrespective of their age. Because not having to live with the regret of losing an opportunity, your health, or youth can be one less of a burden on your mind later on.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is probably one iconic celebrity whom women from every generation look up to. From embracing her post-pregnancy body to having a normal delivery, she has single-handedly set many a benchmark. But did you know that she conceived at the age of 37? Throughout her pregnancy, Aishwarya kept up with all her work commitments and international appearances. At a time when flaunting the baby bump was a fad, she went the traditional way and kept it modest. Aishwarya swears by yoga and a disciplined lifestyle as the reasons for her healthy pregnancy. She now globe-trots with her daughter, Aaradhya, who we can’t get enough of.

Rani Mukherjee

Another star who had a late pregnancy was our very own Rani Mukherjee. She had ruled a million hearts in the 90s with her performances. After a successful stint in Bollywood, she got married to producer Aditya Chopra. While most of us at her age – 37 – would have thought twice about having a baby, this hazel-eyed beauty conceived her daughter Adira. She now enjoys a blissful motherhood.

Shilpa Shetty

Who doesn’t know Shilpa Shetty? This South Indian beauty and Bollywood actress is also an ardent yoga lover. Shilpa too had a late pregnancy – at the age of 37. While she does not promote late pregnancies, she has proven to the world that you can become a mother at any age without compromising on your career and health. Shilpa has thousands of followers on her social media handle where she shares healthy recipes, work-out videos, and snippets from her professional engagements. She’s one yummy mummy to son Viaan.

Neha Dhupia

Neha Dhupia shocked everyone when she made a surprise wedding announcement. However, later she and her husband – Angad Bedi, admitted that she was pregnant at the time of their marriage. Neha was 37 at that time. And she sure did embrace her pregnancy elegantly. Like her peers, she too continued to keep her professional commitments. Neha delivered a healthy baby girl and named her Mehr. This working mom has been juggling her work and motherhood quite efficiently since Mehr’s birth.

Whether you wish to have a baby in your 20s or 30s is a matter of your choice. On one hand, we have witnessed women having successful pregnancies and childbirth in their late 30s. Whereas on the other hand, we have also come across women who are healthy, in their 20s, and would have still faced severe complications in their pregnancy, miscarriages, or faced difficulties in conceiving. Therefore, it is equally important that apart from being healthy physically, you should be prepared mentally too. Only then will you be able to experience the joys of motherhood to the fullest.
