4 Celebrity Mamas Who Were Judged Online For Their Parenting Styles

What’s your first reaction when you see a toddler melt-down in a public place? In all probability, you might think that the kid isn’t being looked after well by his/her mother. Despite all of us knowing that parenting is a joint responsibility, we still blame the mother if the child is, well, just being a child. So, no matter what a mother does, she is always judged for her style of parenting. And this judgmental mindset does not spare the celebrities either. Don’t believe us? Then here is a list of celebrity mamas who were trolled online for their parenting style:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The former Miss World and Bollywood actress, Aishwarya has always been at the receiving end of trolls ever since she joined social media. A lot many of us look up to her as a benchmark for being a hands-on mom; for being comfortable in her postpartum body, and for being around her daughter each time. Yet, Aishwarya has always been called out for being an overprotective mother for simple gestures like holding her daughter, Aaradhya’s hand while walking around. There was also a time when she was heavily trolled for kissing her daughter on the lips during an event. But Aishwarya cocked a snook at everyone in her trademark style by maintaining a dignified silence and continuing to post more lovable pictures of her with her daughter.

Sania Mirza

Controversy’s favorite child, Sania always knew how to give it back to her haters. While in the past the naysayers would target her, this time her parenting style was unnecessarily put under the scrutiny. Reason – a video of Sania at a dinner outing along with her son, husband, and a bunch of his friends from the cricketing fraternity. Veena Malik, a Pakistani actress, had questioned Sania’s parenting skills by pointing out that it was hazardous for her child to be at that particular restaurant. To this, the fiery Hyderabadi responded by saying that is was none of Veena Malik’s or anyone else’s business to interfere as she cared for her son Izhaan way more than anybody else.

Hillary Duff

If you thought only Indian celebrity moms are the targets of online trolling, then wait till you hear this. Hollywood actress Hilary Duff was once trolled online for posting a picture with her son. In the picture, Hilary was seen kissing her then 4-year-old son on the lips at Disneyland. People were quick to judge her parenting and left malicious comments on her social media timeline. But feisty Hilary gave it back to the trolls by asking them to unfollow her and take their warped and judgmental minds elsewhere! Some of her fans also defended her saying that it was just a quick kiss that looked long in the picture. Irrespective of that, Hilary showed she cared less about the opinions of the trolls.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena set a new benchmark for working mothers when she set out to honor her work commitments during and soon after her pregnancy. However, she also became fodder for online judgment right from the choice of her son’s name – Taimur to the outrageously expensive nanny she hired for him. But Kareena being Kareena, she gave no heed to such trolling. She is often spotted with her son nowadays and she has also admitted several times as to how much she loves her son, who she lovingly calls Tim!

Parenting is a very responsible task. What we, as parents, need to understand is that each parent has a different way or style of parenting. However, celebrities often become a soft target for such judgmental opinions. If we do not endorse their style of parenting, the least we can do is respect their privacy and let them be!
