There is no denying that the year 2020 has been iconic. With the novel Corona virus taking over the whole world, in ways no one expected, this year has been quite the challenging one for every one of us. It is safe to say that this year will be remembered for a long time. We are living in an era where history is being made and after we survive this global pandemic, generations to come will probably be learning about it and its global impact in history books. While there has been a lot of struggle, it is also a reminder for us human beings that we need to slow down and pace ourselves. The way I look at it, this outbreak is just a way of nature trying to reboot and set things in balance. Granted, it would have been great if we were reminded to slow down in a different way, one that does not involve so much fear, panic, and loss but hey, these are the cards we’ve been dealt with and it’s up to us to ride out the wave.

Blessings In Disguise

It is common practice in most households to see children having strong bonds with their mothers but not so much with their fathers. The reason is probably that fathers are so focused on work that they find it hard to balance family time with work. But with this Corona virus lockdown, fathers are getting a lot of time at home and have the opportunity to be in their kids’ lives more than normal.

Gone are the days when a father is not involved in his kids’ life. These days, they play an important role in inculcating values and morals in their kids’ lives. They teach them sports, discipline, and many other qualities that are important for the future of their child. After all, a father cannot be replaced by a mother. He has his own role to play while a mother has hers. This year has probably been an eye-opener for all the fathers out there who have realized that taking care of the house, kids, and balancing that with professional life is no walk in the park.

While mothers have been taking on the role of nurturer, fathers too have an equal role to play in bringing up their kids. As a little girl, it is your father you ran to when you fell down in the park or fell off a bicycle. He is the one who comforts you and makes you feel safe. So, with father’s day around the corner, let’s appreciate the dads all over the world a little more for everything they do.
