Toddlers are unstoppable – they are exuberant, always on the go with an undying zeal to experiment and explore things. If you have a toddler at home, you might be on your toes round the clock. Am I right? But, having a scheduled time for playing with his toys reserves his energy levels and also gives you time for relaxing. Toys for toddlers are plenty, but which ones are safe and which are potentially dangerous? Curious?
There are many cases in the US and all over the world where kids are injured due to toys. So, as a parent, it’s your responsibility to keep your child away from harmful toys. Here we bring you the list of five toys that you should not let your toddler play with.
- Toy guns: Keep your toddler away from toy guns. There are shocking facts of kids being killed when a real gun is mistaken for a toy gun. Studies indicate that children younger than eight years cannot differentiate between a toy gun and a real one. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so keep your child away from toy guns and the concept of violence especially in the early childhood.
- Toys with small parts: Toys which consists of small parts can put the child at high risk. If the kid accidently puts them in his mouth, it causes a choking hazard. Some kids even try putting them into their nose and ears, which is extremely dangerous.
- Toxic toys: Needless to say toxic toys are harmful, and more often than not the child tends to put the toy into his mouth and chews it. This could lead to poisoning and cause stomach aches, nausea, and dizziness.
- Toys with strings: Strings and cords seem to be useful while tying them to your baby’s crib, but never do that. The baby might just pull it down and get entangled, which could result in death. Avoid toys with strings such as yoyo balls.
- Metal Toys: Toys made of metals have sharp edge points and can cause cuts and injuries. The child might unknowingly put it into his eyes causing serious injury.
- Toys with batteries or electrical toys: Kids try pulling out the batteries and put them into their mouths. If the acid leaks from the batteries, the child might just suck it, which could be fatal.
Note: Remember checking the safety guidelines before you let your child play with the toy. Supervise your kid while he plays.
We baby proof our apartments for the safety of our children. That’s important, but providing safe toys for your toddler to play with is equally important. So, give your toddler toys that are safe, fun to play with, and have educational value.
