5 Summer Hacks For Mom And Baby

Summer is one of the seasons we eagerly wait for. Getting tanned while lying down on your lawn, sipping on a glass of orange juice is the best feeling ever! Also, summer calls in for the fun pool time- not just for kids but for the parents as well. But if you’ve recently had a baby, you may feel like staying indoors and taking care of the baby. Summer is not a great time when you’re trying to recover from your postpartum issues. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy it.

Here are 5 cool summer hacks for all the pretty mommies and their babies out there:

For The Mommies

1) Enjoy Pool Time

Get your favorite swimwear and enjoy the cool water! What are you waiting for? If your pool is clean and you’re sure you’re away from infections, you can definitely have fun in the pool. If you don’t have a pool at home, you can go to a community pool or a resort where they have a pool. Also, you can set up a bigger kiddie pool in your backyard and soak yourself all day!

2) Sunscreen All The Way!

If you want to go out, even if you’re going to sit by the pool the whole day, use sunscreen. There’s no way you can skip this hack.

3) Cool Showers

Not everyone likes the pool and it’s okay. Taking cool showers once or twice in a day will help to maintain your body temperature. If you live in a place which is very humid, you’d probably want to stand under the shower all day. If you’re showering more than once in a day, remember to use soap just the first time. You can use fruit pulp or flour to wash your body the next time because the continuous use of soap will rip the moisture off your skin.

4) Hydration

Drink enough water. You can keep nice, clean water bottles in all the rooms you are going to be with the baby. This will do the trick.

5) Wet Washcloth

Stack up a few washcloths in your cabinets. Dip two or three of them in a bowl of water and keep it in the fridge. You can use the cool washcloth to dab yourself whenever it’s too hot. Remember to wash the cloth and dry it before using it again. Use a light detergent and some antibacterial lotion to clean away the sweat and bacteria on the cloth. To make things more interesting, add some aloe vera juice or cucumber juice to the washcloth bowl.

For The Babies

1) Bring On The Onesies

Onesies are of great help when you want to change a soiled diaper. You can remove it from top to down without getting the baby’s body all dirty. This will help you have fun outside of the home without worrying too much about the diaper changes.

2) Air Dry The Diaper Area

If you don’t let the moisture dry after wiping, it will get trapped between your baby’s skin and the new diaper. During summers, the increased amount of sweat can add to it and cause infections and rashes. So, make sure you let the area dry in the air once in a while.

3) Sucking On A Frozen Cloth

Let your baby suck on a soft piece of frozen cloth if it’s too hot. Make sure that the cloth is completely clean and safe.

4) Anti-Rash Measures

Use only good quality diapers to avoid rashes. Let the diaper area air dry after wipes, and apply a layer of moisturizer or petroleum jelly before changing into a new diaper.

5) Avoid Sudden Temperature Changes

If your baby is with you in an air-conditioned room or vehicle, turn off the AC sometime before you get out of there. Let the temperature come back to normal room temperature gradually. Taking your baby out of the cool atmosphere to a very hot one all of a sudden will make them uncomfortable and cranky.
