The joy and happiness that a new mom experiences after giving birth is incomparable. The journey of nurturing a new life in your womb and bringing it safely into this world is nothing less than magical. No wonder then that it leaves new parents, especially the mother, on cloud 9 when they get to hold their baby in their arms. And this feeling of euphoria is the same for every woman – be it a commoner, a royal, or a celebrity. One such celebrity who stepped into the new role of a mother a day before Christmas is none other than the popular Indian wrestler – Geeta Phogat!
Geeta Phogat first came into the limelight, as we all know, after her winning streak at international events in women’s wrestling – a feat still unheard of in women’s wrestling in India. Soon, she became an inspiration for every aspiring Indian woman wrestler. So much so that a hit Bollywood movie – Dangal – was made on her life making her a household name not only in India but across the world. While her professional life was going great guns, Geeta’s personal life too was like a love story straight out of a Bollywood film. In 2012, Geeta is supposed to have first bumped into her proverbial ‘knight in shining armor’ – Pawan Kumar Saroha. With both being professional wrestlers, their first meeting perhaps seemed something quite normal for them. But it was only 4 years later, in 2016, that they realized their feelings for each other. On 20 November 2016, Geeta and Pawan tied the knot and became each other’s soulmates forever. And this year, the duo celebrated their third wedding anniversary. On this occasion, Geeta had also posted a picture of their wedding day along with a beautiful message for her dear husband.

But it was only in September 2019 that Geeta announced her pregnancy on her social media account. It was accompanied by a picture of her against the backdrop of a scenic hillside, holding her baby bump. At that time, Geeta was well in her second trimester. She had also posted a beautiful message along with the picture which read as follows: “ A mother’s joy begins when new life is stirring inside… when a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds that little one is never alone. You never understand life until it grows inside of you.”

Soon after her announcement, Geeta was in full attendance at her sister Babita’s wedding to Vivek Suhag on 1st December 2019. At the wedding, Geeta looked gorgeous and proudly flaunted her baby bump. But the highlight of the wedding became the sweet, surprise baby shower hosted for Geeta by her friends and her bride sister.

And, then came the news that most of Geeta’s family, friends, and fans had been waiting for – the news of the arrival of her baby. It sure came and how! Just a day before Christmas, that is, 24th December, Geeta gave birth to her first child – a cute little healthy and bonny baby boy! She shared the adorable picture of her firstborn with the happy parents holding the baby. In her post accompanying the announcement, she sought love and blessings for her son from all her fans.

Isn’t the little boy aww..dorable?? We wish the very best of health and happiness for the little baby. While we are extremely happy for Geeta and Pawan, we also wish to see Geeta in action in the sporting circuit soon. Women athletes in India like Mary Kom have successfully made a come back to their respective sports and continue to make the country proud with their achievements. We wish that Geeta too makes a comeback and proves to the world that there is nothing that a woman cannot achieve, especially after becoming a mother!
