We can all agree that parenting is not an easy job. It starts from the time you have a baby and never ends. It requires a lifetime of commitment and dedication which can sometimes get exhausting. But all this is a known fact before you make the choice of becoming a parent and as much as it’s difficult, there are moments you get with your kids that you cherish forever. Over the years, Bollywood movies have portrayed different types of parents and some of them have been way too cool. We wish we had them as parents when we were growing up. Maybe some of us did but the rest of us can probably be those parents to our children. Parents who are constantly trying to change their children to fit societal pressure could probably learn a little something from Pumpkin and Peachy.

The role of the mother is played by the talented and versatile actress Vidya Balan. She brings up her son, Auro without imposing what his equation with his father should be. In the movie, Vidya’s mother plays the role of a very supportive mother who respects her daughter’s choices. How many of us can say that we have parents like this?

Queen is a movie that will leave you feeling empowered and strong. The protagonist, played by Kangana Ranaut, is ready to get married to her fiance but he breaks off the engagement at the last minute. Heartbroken and angry, she decides to go on her honeymoon alone to get over this loss. The best part is that her parents support her. While they are concerned about her safety, they also realize that it is something she needs to do to overcome her heartbreak. At the time where it mattered, her parents stood up for her and supported her rather than worrying about log kya kahenge and that is what makes them the coolest.

An inspiring take on why it is important to keep our dreams alive, Nil Battey Sannata is a story of a mother and daughter who survive the difficulties of life. They belong to a lower socioeconomic class but that does not stop them from enjoying the simple things in life. It is a reminder to people everywhere that no matter the cards you’re dealt with in life, you have the right to dream.

We are slowly moving to a time where parents no longer force their kids to choose a particular career path. But in this movie, Shruti Kakkar’s parents not only supported her but also encouraged her to pursue her entrepreneurial dream. Unlike some parents who are hell-bent on getting their kids married when they aren’t ready, Shruti’s parents listen to her and support her to become a successful wedding planner.

There is no denying that movies largely influence the mindset of the audiences. While Bollywood is known for making unrealistic drama and romantic films, it is great to see that some of these movies have characters that positively influence society.
