It has harmful chemical substances like lead, mercury, copper sulfate, and other toxic chemicals that may cause skin infections and respiratory issues. These chemicals can be absorbed into the skin and lead to severe damage. Even the “natural colors” available in the market are sometimes filled with industrial dyes, engine oils, and synthetic chemicals that result in skin rashes, burning sensation in the eyes, and even an itchy scalp (3). Pregnant women should completely avoid these store-bought chemical colors.
