For a mother, every child she gives birth to is special. And the thought of something unfortunate happening to the baby in her womb is devastating. Chloe Dunstan went through something like that. A mother of three boys, Dunstan got pregnant and wished for a baby girl.
When she and her husband Rohan got to know that they are going to be blessed with their fourth child, their joy had no bounds. It was only after the couple went for the routine checkup that they got to know that Dunstan was carrying triplets. Two boys and a girl. The surprised couple started preparing for the arrival of their three new babies in all gusto.

In the 28th week of her term, Dunstan met her doctor for a routine scan to ensure her pregnancy was going smooth. She skipped a heartbeat when the doctor told her that while the development of the boys in her womb was perfect, the girl was underdeveloped. The only way to save her baby girl was to perform surgery at the earliest. However, there was a catch. The surgery was complicated, and it could risk the other two babies. At this juncture, Dunstan had to make the most difficult decision of her life.
Either go for the surgery and put the triplets at risk or sacrifice her daughter and save her sons. Imagine the pressure this mother must have gone through in making such a tough decision. But she had to. And the decision she made is something only a strong woman is capable of.

Chloe Dunstan and her husband took the brave decision to go forward with the surgery and save all the three babies.
In her Facebook post, Dunstan recalls her thoughts when the decision to opt for the surgery was made “I could barely listen to any of that… My mind was on a one-way track of ‘I want ALL of my babies,’ I did briefly consider the alternative, I did a lot of research and tried to get a feel for what they were in for. I knew it would be tough, but I just couldn’t give up on her.. I knew she was strong because she made it all the way to 28 weeks when she was barely getting any nutrients in the womb,”
The procedure was executed, and Dunstan gave birth to triplets. The new-borns were kept under observation in the ICU right after their birth. Though the boys were healthy, the girl from the triplets was extremely weak and much smaller as compared to the other two babies. But with time and proper care, the three siblings recuperated in good health.

The baby girl was named Pearl. She surprised everyone and grew stronger and healthier by the day. In Dunstan’s relieved words, “My three babies, they all made it, and not only that but they’re all very healthy as far as we can tell.”

The new mother further said, “I guess I just wanted to say that I’m so very happy and grateful for how everything has worked out. I couldn’t imagine life without her, and I’m so proud of all three of them. I can’t wait to watch them grow,”
This is how the Dunstan’s kids look now. The proud mother of these six children has fought a tough fight indeed.

What Dunstan did is not easy. She took a chance with faith in her heart and made sure all her kids get the life they deserve. We salute her determination and courage. Every moment this mother sees her children grow, she will be reminded of her grit and resilience.
