How great would it be to a part of the royal family, right? Wrong. Unlike what we believe, being a part of the royal family comes with its set of challenges too. All we see is the glamor and glitz from the outside but just like everyone else, they have their fair share of issues to deal with. Starting from a lack of privacy where every single detail of their private life is made public to immense pressure being placed on the members of the family because of certain duties that come with being a part of the royal lineage, it is not an easy journey. However, the members of the royal family carry it off with grace and do the best they can.

In 2011, Prince William married Kate Middleton and welcomed her into the royal family. They were holidaying in Kenya when the Prince popped the question with his late mother’s engagement ring in 2010 and a year later, they got married. It was a grand event with over 25 million viewers watching the event live. Kate Middleton assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess Of Cambridge”. It’s been a decade since then and they have been blessed with three children. In an interview recently, it was revealed that Kate has broken some of the royal traditions because she believes that values trump tradition.

Kate and Prince William are parents to three young adorable children – Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five and Prince Louis, two. The couple is active working members of the royal family and has been following different aspects of the traditions. Prince George is third in line to the British throne which makes him deep-rooted into the British traditional lineage. Kate has also adopted several traditions since she officially became a member of the royal family.
Recently, Zoe Bonser, the show director of The Baby Show told a popular newspaper that while Kate has upheld traditions of the royal family, there are certain aspects of it that she broke. For example, when it came to parenting and dropping off George at school, she did it herself rather than having someone do it for her because she values quality family time. After childbirth, Kate had her mother take care of her and the baby during her initial days instead of appointing an army of staff. Zoe said that the Duchess did not shy away from breaking a few traditions to hold on to family values.
Being a part of the royal family, there are professional photographers that are available at their beck and call at all times. Even so, Kate does not get her children’s photos taken by these professionals. Instead, she takes them herself personally and chooses what content to put out to the public. This way, she has control over what goes out and what stays in the family while she also brushes her skills in photography.

Some might argue that she is breaking tradition by following her own style of parenting but the Duchess sticks by tradition when required. Kate always dresses her kids in typical British style clothing for every public appearance and photos. She follows the traditional dressing style that has been a part of the royal family since the beginning of time.
The only areas of “compromise” for Kate are the ones where she stands by doing what’s best for her children even if they do not coincide with what has always been done. Zoe said that the Duchess has always prioritized inculcating certain values in her children and promotes kindness, respect, and honesty among her kins. Zoe adds by saying that Kate believes that children deserve time, attention, and love from their parents while being allowed to express themselves freely. Kate feels that it is important for children to be able to speak about their feelings. Zoe commends the Duchess for being an inspirational mum while fulfilling the duties of the royal family.
