A man who makes a good husband may not make a good father. But his chances are probably higher. It takes a lot of qualities to build a good kid and kids are like sponges, they absorb what they see and experience rather than what we teach them. Having a strong father figure is crucial for the emotional development of a child. Parenting is no easy task, but if your man has these qualities in him, he will make the best dad.
1. Honesty

Honesty is one of the most important traits to have in any man. Being dishonest can affect your work and personal life as well. If your partner is honest, your child will learn to do the same irrespective of what he/she has done.
2. Dependability

If your man is not dependable, your child won’t know it’s importance and follow the same path. Little things like being on time or keeping a promise teaches your child that he/she can count on his/her dad.

How do we feel when somebody is not paying attention to what we are saying? We feel neglected, and our self worth goes down the drain. Your child will lose the confidence he/she needs to succeed in life if he/she never gets an attentive dad.
4. Patience

A man who doesn’t have any patience is never going to be a good dad, period. Children teach us patience, and if we lose our cool every now and then, it is only going to jeopardize the relationship you have with your kid. If your partner is patient and is able to understand the situation without jumping to judgments, he is going to be a better dad.
5. Fun-Loving

All work and no play is definitely not a good motto for parenting. It’s important to have fun family time to build a good bond with your kid. Kids who have fun are less likely to have anxiety and depression in their lives. It’s important for any kid to maintain a balance in life.
6. Compassionate

If everybody was compassionate, the world would be a much better place. Compassion is contagious, and if your man is able to be compassionate towards your child, and be there for him/her when he/she needs it the most, your child will learn to understand the value of compassion.

Being kind is one of the most underrated qualities. We feel good when we see an act of kindness. We start thinking to ourselves that the world is not as bad as we thought. Witnessing a simple act of kindness will release oxytocin which helps in improving our heart rate. If your man is kind, that quality will reflect in your kid as well.

If your kid is raised by an optimistic man, they would learn to deal with tough situations that life throws at them without losing hope. Optimism is important to stay happy and sane instead of crumbling under pressure.

There’s a thin line between being assertive and aggressiveness, and it is important to be assertive to teach your kid discipline. Assertiveness also helps in building a strong, confident relationship with your child.
10. Genuine

If your man is authentic in the way he is and does not try to be perfect in the eyes of others, he will teach his kid to be his true self. If your kid is not comfortable to be his true self, it can tarnish his self-esteem.
Dads play an influential role in every kid’s life and having a man with these qualities can make the job of parenting much easier and less tricky.
