Let’s be honest, parents nowadays are too busy. Juggling work, personal priorities and taking care of the kids is hard to do all alone, and it’s perfectly okay to have some reinforcements. This is where the nannies and babysitters come in. Although it may be tempting to have a team of nannies and helpers catering to the kids if you can afford to do so, it’s important to keep in mind that you are your kid’s primary parent and delegating responsibilities isn’t always a good thing. One family that can definitely afford to have a few extra helping hands around are the royals. But they insist on only having a part-time nanny while they carry out their royal duties. Otherwise, William and Kate are full-time hands-on parents!

2. Respect People’s Work

It’s easy to get carried away when you literally live in a palace full of staff who are at your beck and call at all times. But the royal children are taught to respect the people and their work. They don’t take advantage of their situation. In fact, they pick up after themselves and help tidy up their room with the help of the cleaning staff. Their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, has also made sure that they thank all the employees they come in contact with, like the serving staff.

3. Family First

Royal or no, family should always be your child’s first priority. Will and Kate are determined to make sure that the kids have a strong bond with their family members. The eldest, George looks after his younger sister Charlotte and they both dote on their little brother Louise. The kids also do fun activities with their parents on a daily basis. Charlotte loves to cook with her mother while George goes on daily walks with his dad. The kids are also thorough in family history and have visited the grave of their grandmother Princess Dianne several times.

4. Don’t Go Overboard With Kids Clothes

You’d think that the royal family would splurge on an extravagant wardrobe for each child, but they don’t. Like every sensible parent they understand that children tend to grow right out of their clothes too soon. And so spending money on designer outfits that they’ll probably wear once just doesn’t make sense. Instead they opt to buy value outfits for their little ones and even reuse onesies from William and Harry’s childhood. How cute is that!

5. No Tablets And Phones For The Kids

We’ve all seen how modern technology has affected kids in recent times. There are 2 year olds who know how to work an iphone better than a 20 year old. In an effort to prevent their kids from being dependent on technology, the royal children are prohibited from the use of tablets, phones and laptops. At least for the time being. Of course, they play the occasional game on mum or dad’s phone but these instances are rare.

6. Self-expression Is Encouraged

The royal family wasn’t always known for being about to adapt with changing times. In fact, it is their lack of flexibility that people often criticize. However, the younger members of the family are challenging this notion. Unlike the other restrained royal kids we’re used to seeing, William and Kate’s kids are intune with their feelings and are often seen being silly, laughing or throwing a tantrum, just like any other child. They understand that their children are not afraid to express what really worries them and they’re glad they have an open line of communication with their kids.

Dealing with kids is a difficult task for everyone, especially if you’re constantly in the public eye like the royals. Did something on our list surprise you? Let us know in the comments section
