Pregnancy Test Now Possible Through Bluetooth

Today, people of all ages, including and especially the kids, are familiar with technology. Everyone expects technology to make life easier for humanity. Our daily life is heavily, in some cases overly reliant, on technology. And, a recent news took this technological dependence t a whole new level. A company called First Response recently launched the Bluetooth-enabled pregnancy kit, yes you read that right! Wondering what on earth that means or what Bluetooth has anything to do with taking a pregnancy test?

When we think of a pregnancy test, most of us would think of a woman peeing on a strip so she can get a positive or negative answer. It’s probably why we are all raising our eyebrows at the Bluetooth-enabled pregnancy kit. Why does something so simple need something so technologically advanced?

Turns out that the Bluetooth device syncs with your pregnancy test stick, and tells you more than a simple positive or negative result. The Bluetooth device is designed to keep you engaged for the three minutes the test needs to record your hormone levels. While, this may not seem like long, but most women swear that it feels like forever!

How does the Bluetooth device work?

Qualcomm technology has enabled the First Response “Pregnancy PRO Digital Pregnancy Test & App Access,” sends a signal to the app and ensures a “personalised user experience.” Qualcomm hopes to try and minimize the stress that most women undergo while taking pregnancy tests.

So, there are many options to choose from while you await your result on tenterhooks. “Calm Me,” plays “soothing visuals”. “Educate Me,” offers relevant information about pregnancy and fertility. Finally, “Entertain Me,” plays videos or music to amuse you. Sounds pretty amazing to us, don’t you think? After all, a pregnancy test is a stressful thing to go through.

When you get your results, the test, via the app or device, will either suggest ways to maximize your chances of conception, or predict the due date! The app may list some normal questions that you can ask your doctor, and also, keep a track of your pregnancy milestones!

Why was the app/device made?

Wendy Bishop, First Response’s brand manager, states, “Taking a pregnancy test is an anxious process. Whether the result is negative or positive, you’ll have many questions. Traditional pregnancy tests are either a yes or no, so we devised a way to extend this relationship and hold a woman’s hand while she takes her test, and through the entire pregnancy journey… It gives her an action plan for moving forward.”

The company based the interactive options on women who incorporated their requests during research. For example according to First Response, “nearly 6 out of 10 pregnant women use their smartphones to look up information on health and safety.” This is exactly what the company strives to provide. The company also states that “Consumers to demand digital tools and frictionless experiences when it comes to health care,” which is why they are extremely proud of their creation.

We think it’s an amazing idea because women don’t have to be alone during the test and pregnancy. They also will be nudged to address certain important questions.
