  1. Breastfeeding is inexpensive, unlike formula milk.
  1. Your child can have access to milk just about anywhere with you around.
  1. There is no such thing as a depleted supply and buying for the next week’s supply.
  1. Your child bonds with you like with nobody else.

  1. Mommy’s milk improves the immunity of your child.
  1. You pass on the potent painkillers to your child.
  1. Breastfeeding keeps your child away from a good number of future ailments like diabetes, allergies, asthma and a range of infections.
  1. Breastfeeding is known to improve your child’s intelligence.
  1. Breastfeeding is also known to improve your child’s social behavior.
  1. It might be helping you to dump in as much nourishment as possible within a short span of time (until your baby weans off) when compared to all the coaxing that goes in to make your toddler eat the right foods.
  1. You feel special as a breastfeeding mother.
  1. You are amazed at nature’s marvel called breastfeeding.
  1. You feel like a prouder mom when compared to those who don’t breastfeed.
  1. Breastfeeding can help you regain your former shape.
  1. Breastfeeding releases a great stress-buster! It relaxes both you and your baby.
  1. You give your baby a sense of security as you breastfeed – remember, sometimes your baby asks for a feed simply because it wants to feel secure.
  1. If you have a toddler who hasn’t weaned, you could calm him while nursing your newborn at the same time.
  1. Breastfeeding helps to digress your child’s attention off something that could be botheration to you as well.
  1. You love your little one latching onto your bosom as you watch the serenity on her face.

Cons

  1. True, you can feed your child just about anywhere. But for the comfort zone around you. You will dislike the stares of strangers as well.
  2. Too long a break between subsequent feeds can cause your milk to ‘curdle’. It will have your baby throw up or have indigestion.
  3. You might have sore nipples at times.
  4. Some women may have trouble with flat or inverted nipples.
  5. Some women might have trouble with initiating a feed soon after birth. They may need help in learning to hold the baby in the right position, for instance.
  6. You will have leaky breasts and will need breast pads.
  7. If you are a nursing mom, going back to work soon after maternity leave will be the hardest thing to come on you. You will not be biologically fit to go back to work, nor will have the heart to sit throughout the day at your workstation.
  8. You will have to refrain from certain medicines that you normally might be taking.
  9. You will have to abstain from some of your favorite foods. You don’t want to pass on to your baby what might otherwise cause an allergy to it or make it colicky.
  10. You might not be able to socialize for quite a long time.
  11. A holiday with your partner will be a distant dream. Even if you made it, you would be spending most of your time with your baby than with your partner.
  12. If you are not a breastfeeding mom, it will turn out to be a wild-card for anyone to point at the ‘bad mother’ in you who could care the least for your child.
  13. The money that you spend on formula milk will be huge when you look up the accounts towards the end of the year.
  14. Your child will refuse to wean for a long time – even when you think he/she is old enough to do so.
  15. If your baby has already developed teeth, then you will be a monstrous prey to a tiny shark – that is how your baby will be biting into you.
  16. You will worry if your baby will ask for a feed at the most socially inappropriate occasions.
  17. You feel guilty for spending less time with your older children while nursing your baby.
