America’s Bravest 6-Year-Old Gets A Rakhi From Younger Sister

Several incidents happen worldwide that becomes a viral sensation, but very few of these stories remain etched in our hearts. These stories help us restore faith in humanity and give us hope for a better tomorrow. In today’s world, we are continuously fed with negative news, and we tend to lose hope, but then a story that brightens everyone’s day comes along and puts a smile on our faces. One such news was reported in July that took the internet by storm. Bridger Walker, a 6-year-old, made the headlines when he fearlessly protected his 4-year-old sister from the attack of a German Shepherd mix. He did not hesitate to risk his life and put himself between the dog and his sister to save her from the dog attack. Talk about bravery!

As a result of this brave act, the 6-year-old suffered multiple injuries on his face. He was severely bitten on his cheeks and had to undergo emergency surgery, which left him with 90 stitches. OUCH! This young hero lives in Wyoming, USA, and has made the headlines once again with his adorable little sister.

For Rakshabandhan, Bridger Walker’s aunt shared an image of his sister and him on Instagram that warmed everyone’s heart. The cute sibling duo is seen celebrating Rakshabandhan. Bridger’s sister is tying a cute red rakhi on his wrist, signifying a bond of protection, love, and lifelong happiness. After the incident of the dog attack, Bridger became quite the hero all over the world. His story reached different parts of the world, including India, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Iran, and Mexico.

His aunt, Nicole Walker, said that internet users from everywhere resonated with this story, and lots of love came pouring their way. On account of Rakshabandhan, they decided to cross cultural barriers to celebrate the love between a brother and sister. Rakshabandhan is celebrated with grandeur in India, Nepal, and some parts of Pakistan to commemorate the special bond that siblings share. Sisters tie a rakhi on their brothers’ wrists as a testament that the brother will protect the sister and as a symbol of their love.

Nicole said that she loved the sentiment behind this festival and thought it would be great to celebrate the love between siblings on Rakshabandhan. Especially after the incident where Bridger risked his life to protect his sister from a dog attack, she thought it was appropriate to celebrate it.

A Kid But A Hero

It is a known fact that brothers are overprotective about their sisters. They often go to great lengths to protect their sisters, sometimes even if they are older. But risking one’s life to save their sister is truly a selfless act of bravery. When he saw that the German Shepherd mix dog was going to attack his little sister, he jumped in between to save her, which resulted in severe bites on his cheeks. He had to get 90 stitches on his face, and we sure as hell know how painful that would have been. However, Bridger told his parents that he thought it should be him if someone had to die. *Brb, fighting tears*

After this heroic story went viral, several actors who played superheroes in movies praised the 6-year-old boy for his courage. A few of them were Tom Holland, who plays Spiderman, Robert Downey Junior, who plays Tony in Iron Man, and Chris Evans, who plays Captain America. Chris Evans even said that he would send Bridger an authentic Captain America shield as a reward for his courage and bravery. Bridger has been a real inspiration to brothers everywhere, and his love for his sister is beyond amazing.
