4 Reasons To Ask Your Mom To Stay After You Give Birth

When you become a new mother, you are required and expected to fulfil several duties. Taking care of the baby’s feeding schedule, keeping track of the laundry, bathing and massages, minding one’s own exhausted self and so on!

Even mentally, you seem to gather your will and courage, to adjust to your new body, hormonal changes, and overcome the trauma of the delivery. To take care of so many things seems like a herculean task.

In this scenario, we all require a helping hand to provide us mental and emotional support. And nobody can come to our rescue like our mothers do.

Unlike our mostly clueless partners, our mothers come with loads of experience, wisdom and of course, the showering of all that maternal love and concern.

Let us see, how our mothers become the best choice when it comes to taking care of us and help us recover from our post-natal stage.

The moms have been there, and they know all that has to be done. And the biggest advantage is, they lend ears to all our post-partum problems, frustrations, banters and tantrums with inexplicable tolerance. Not only this, they extend all their support in maintaining the house and helping with the chores. You can’t have this kind of peace with a hired help or any other obligatory help. Nobody can match up to the personal touch that brims out of each loving gesture that a mother does for you.

Warm food to eat, catching up on sleep while she takes care of the baby, recovering from a near zombie state, spending some time with the other kids, not having to worry about keeping the dinner ready, sending the children off to school while you dig into the pillow after being awake nursing the baby are only some of the things that find mention here.

2. Helping to reconnect with the family

When you are going to have a baby, you imagine a picture-perfect image. The cherubic baby sleeping peacefully in a Moses basket beside your bed, your partner gleaming with fatherly affection and acknowledging your sheer labour (pun intended). But this is far from the truth. You and your partner may have silly arguments over who does what, both fatigued, groggy and grumpy because of all the running around and the schedule gone haywire. This is where the mom pitches in and streamlines all the rough edges. She lets both of you take a breather and discuss your plans and goals. She takes up many responsibilities which might have left both of you too tired to even have a civil conversation. You connect better with your partner and spend some quality time together, courtesy your mother.

3. Passing the pearls of wisdom

You might have internalized all the theories from those thick books on child birth and child rearing. But when it comes to the practical side of it, you might find yourself in soup. And that is where your mum can give her valuable advice, from dealing with gassy or colicky issues to the optimum layers of clothing that your baby should wear. Having gone through all these, she will have an opinion based on her experience, which you will find works like magic.

4. Resolve your differences

There might have been some conflicts in the past, which is natural in every mother-daughter relationship. But now that you are a mum, and you see her working relentlessly for you and your baby, you realize that there was only concern and love behind her words and actions. It is a perfect time to rekindle the feelings of love and gratitude. When you connect with her on a maternal level, your own maternal instincts get a new dimension. She also supports you whole-heartedly in your duties towards your child.

A mother’s role is never over-rated when it comes to loving and caring for her children. And when she becomes a grandparent, she is only too happy to take another tiny being under her wings. And therefore, there cannot be anybody who could care for you and your child, as your own mum does!!!!
