7 Reasons Why You Will Want A C-Section

C-sections are becoming increasingly common in various countries. While many women might be advised for C-section owing to the condition they might be in, it is startling that some women go for a C-section willingly. Interestingly some doctors insist on C-sections for valid or commercial reasons. But selecting a C-section? These could be the worst reasons:

1. C-Section Might Give You The Benefit Of Choosing The Best Date

Of course, it’s nice to have a delivery with no sudden onset of labor. You have planned things ahead of time. You have your bags ready to carry to the hospital. Your immediate family has things prepared at home as well. But don’t forget the fact that women could go into labor much before the due date. So if you have planned for a C-section, there is no guarantee that the child would be born on the decided date. It might as well pop out before the date for the section.

2. C-Section Will Help You Plan Your Maternity Leave

You are going on a maternity leave. Not on a holiday. It entails nursing your baby just about any time and for any lengths of time in 24 hours. So I don’t understand what ‘planning your maternity leave’ means. You will be stuck at home in any event for which you neither need to book air tickets nor do you need to book accommodation. It’s a total commitment that you will be giving to your child irrespective of when it’s born.

3. Your Baby Is Breech

If this is what your doctor has told you and as such you have been advised for a C-section, then don’t forget the possibility of your doc performing an external cephalic version whereby she would turn the baby from breech to head down. So you still stand the chance of having a vaginal delivery.

4. You Are Going To Have Twins

How did our grannies deliver twins without the intervention of a C-section? They delivered healthy babies vaginally and successfully. And so did they recover fast enough as opposed to when one would undergo a C-section. Discuss with your doctor as to why you are being advised for a C-section. It might as well be the size and the position of the twins behind the suggestion. Understand the reason before you agree for the C-section.

5. C-Section Will Save You From The Torture Of Vaginal Birth

Women believe so. But those who have had C-section say it is otherwise. Many women find the pain from the incisions hard to deal with. Sometimes the pain is to stay for a long time – even many years after the delivery – as you feel the pulls when you do strenuous activities. But remember, C-section takes much longer to heal, and your mobility will be on a low. It is layers of incisions in your abdomen that you don’t want to put at risk.

6. A Previous C-Section Would Make A Future Vaginal Birth Risky

VBAC or a Vaginal Birth After C-section is usually believed to be risky by many mothers. Women who have had a history of previous C-sections are ‘misled’ by the thought that their bodies are not prepared for a vaginal birth. Yes, a VBAC is not as easy or possible as one might want it to be, but at the same time, it is not as dangerous as women believe it to be. You might be advised to avoid a VBAC because once you are into labor, the previous incisions may break open and it might put you at risk. However, such an incidence is at two per cent. In fact, about sixty-three percent women who have attempted a VBAC have been successful. So you may not want to rule out the possibilities of a successful VBAC after all.

7. You Think You May Have Sex Problems After Vaginal Birth

In fact, the opposite is true. While many women think that delivering vaginally will give rise to sex problems later, a majority of women who have undergone C-section have reported that it is the other way around.

At the end of the day, you need to take a call on how you want your child to be born. But you might as well be dwelling in myths before you elect for C-section. Just be sure why and what you are up for.
