Although nights are more peaceful and comforting, it’s when most unfortunate events occur. As a parent, you should strictly guide your child before roaming the streets or reaching home late at night. Here are some guidelines you should tell your children to follow strictly:

  • You should avoid taking the narrow streets as much as possible and only use the main roads for traveling at night.
  • You should also avoid taking empty or without proper lighting routes.
  • Finally, always use your navigation app to send your live location to your guardians in an emergency.

2. During Solo Traveling

When your child is visiting a tourist destination or a relative’s place all by themselves, they should have a good presence of mind to get over real-life traveling situations.

  • Always cross-check the transportation you are boarding on.
  • Avoid consuming food items or taking lifts given by strangers.
  • Keep your purse in the front pockets to avoid pocket-picking.
  • Always keep yourself on the correct route rather than taking shortcuts.

3. While Coming Across Strangers

Anyone can deceive an innocent kid on the street to get what they want. Therefore, your child should know how to behave when indulging unwelcome strangers.

  • Don’t believe any stranger who impersonates your parent’s friends or relatives. If they continue to do so, ask them to call your parents.
  • Don’t help any stranger all by yourself. Instead, ask other people on the street to take care.
  • You should not let them follow you and should visit the nearest police station or a place where you know the owner and inform them.
  • Never sit in their car, even when they continuously ask you to, and be aware of denying anything they offer you to eat.

4. While Walking Or Driving On The Roads

Every year, millions of people indulge in minor to major accidents on roads just because they don’t keep themselves focused on their surroundings. So kids should be aware of these rules to get to their destination safely:

  • You should know basic road safety and traffic signals like a zebra crossing, traffic lights, etc.
  • Always keep your eyes and ears open, and don’t use earphones to play music while driving or walking.
  • Don’t cross the road when it’s busy. You should always prefer using the zebra crossing.
  • Always make way for ambulances or whenever you hear sirens.

5. While Using Public Transportation

Most of the time, your kids will be traveling through public transport only in case of emergency or when you cannot pick up or drop them off. So, they must have a particular set of do’s and don’t to follow when they travel alone with so many strangers.

  • Never spit out information about your family or the place you’ll be traveling with any stranger.
  • Always sit in front of the vehicle, near the ticket checker or the driver.
  • Don’t deliver or take any luggage or items from a stranger.
  • Keep your ticket to yourself only.
  • Always wait for the vehicle to stop and avoid jumping out of it while still in motion.

6. During Dangerous Situations

Kids should be taught about prevention and be aware of making quick decisions when things go out of control. In addition, they should exhibit braveness and a good presence of mind to tackle unavoidable situations.

  • Whenever you sense that someone is following you, try switching routes to confirm it, and if the person is still following you, you should head towards the nearest store or shop and ask an adult to get you safely home or call your parents.
  • If you encounter drunk miscreants, avoid going near them and changing lanes.
  • If someone attacks or tries to hold you, scream out as loudly as possible and reach for something to hit the attacker.

7. Handling Stray Animals

Kids find it hard to cross specific lanes or routes when they are chased or threatened by stray animals on the way. And these homeless animals can attack your kids without any cause. So, your children should know how to react to those sudden aggressive animals.

  • When a stray dog barks at you, avoid making eye contact.
  • Don’t agitate them by making sudden movements around them.
  • Never run in front of them. Otherwise, the dogs will chase you.

Parents cannot always keep their eyes on their kids, so they need to believe in their parenting, and children can travel independently. Hopefully, these rules will surely help you in guiding your children properly and allowing them to show responsible behavior in the outside world.
