Becoming a mother is the most momentous milestone in a woman’s life. And lucky are those mothers who get to experience this miracle more than once, all over again. Because, from the time the little angel arrives, a mother gets to live many magical moments with her baby. At times, even the arrival of a baby girl changes your perspective about life completely. Why? Ask Bollywood celebrity, Sameera Reddy, who recently gave birth to an adorable daughter.
Sameera, who got married to husband Akshai Varde on January 21, 2014, became a mother to her first child – baby boy Hans Varde – on May 14, 2015. Back then, Sameera had always been vocal on her social media account about issues related to womanhood. She had openly admitted about her struggles with postpartum depression and weight gain during and soon after her first pregnancy. She confessed that she would hardly step out when she was pregnant with her son due to the fear of being judged. However, the warrior in her helped her bounce back as she got ready to embrace motherhood for the second time. And how! From staying holed up at home during her first pregnancy, she moved on to posting pictures of her pregnant belly on her Instagram page throughout her pregnancy. She even indulged in some daring underwater photoshoot. And how can we forget those gorgeous pics from her baby shower where she glowed in a red and yellow silk saree? She was no more afraid of flaunting her baby belly or her curvy pregnant self, which we loved to bits!

On July 12, 2019, Sameera gave birth to a beautiful little girl whom she lovingly named Nyra, which means ‘beauty of Goddess Saraswati/gift of God’. One look at Sameera’s Instagram handle is enough to give you a glimpse into how the actress is living her role as a new mother to the fullest. It is filled with moments of hugs, kisses, and family bonding. While Sameera has always treated her fans with such adorable family pics, she took it up a notch recently. Sameera had always wanted a daughter, a fact she admitted to even after her first pregnancy. And now that her prayers had been answered, she’s living those dreamy moments with her daughter. Being a fitness freak, Sameera had shared a video of her trek to Mullayanagiri Peak, which is one of the tallest peaks in Karnataka, with her daughter. She had strapped her daughter close to her and gave her fans a panoramic view of the beautiful valley. And she achieved all this within 2 months of delivering Nyra! Thus, proving to be an inspiration for all those new moms who were struggling with postpartum weight loss.
Now, she recently shared her thoughts about her journey with her daughter so far along with a drool-worthy picture of Nyra. Taking to Instagram, Sameera wrote, and we quote “To have a lil girl is such joy! Can’t even understand how in our country the girl child was considered a burden. I say ‘was’ because I hope that mindset has really changed. I still hear how in big urban families they prefer the firstborn to be a boy but I can tell you as one of three girls in my family we have achieved more than any boy could have!” Beautiful and thought-provoking, isn’t it?

We surely agree with Sameera. Women have been breaking new grounds and turning out to be winners in almost every field nowadays. Yet, it is sad to note that despite this, the birth of a girl-child is yet to become a cause of celebration in many households. However, we are still hopeful that this too will change in the days to come. With celebrities like Sameera being at the helm of this cause, we can surely hope that the future is in good hands already!
