Mothers are our support system. They’re the ones we fall back on when we have no one else to go to. We know how much they do for us and how much they’ve sacrificed. It’s safe to admit that we know quite a bit about our mothers, right? Well, not really! There are a few things that we hear them say and watch them do, and then there are a few things that she would never tell a soul. And these things, perhaps, are the most precious.
Here’s a list of all that they’ve gone through but will never tell you about! Maybe at the end of the read, you’ll give your mum a hug, because that is the least you can do for her!
1. Giving Birth, Really Hurt

It was probably the worst physical pain she could ever experience. Her body underwent so many changes during pregnancy, and then the trauma associated with childbirth. That wasn’t the end of the road, though; the pain continues long after delivery as the body needs to heal. But here’s a secret — for you, she’d go through all of that again!
2. Nights Were Spent Watching Over You

There’s a good reason why mothers say “goodbye” to sleep after childbirth. Half the time, their babies won’t let them sleep, while the other half of the time, mothers would stay awake just to watch over the life they helped create. Babies look so much at peace when they’re asleep; it truly is a sight to behold, especially if the said baby is your own!
3. You Weren’t The Only One Crying

It doesn’t matter why you’re crying; one thing is for sure — it hurts her every time you cry. Mothers feel the pain that their child goes through. It could be for something as silly as crying for milk or crying because you hurt yourself.
4. You First, Every Single Time

Mothers are fierce. They’ll do anything to make sure you are protected, and your needs are met. Their world revolves around you, and you feature first on their list of priorities. She may not always tell you that, but you can see this all the time. Think back to how she saved that last slice of your favorite cake for you, even if she secretly wanted it for herself. Or how about that time when she pulled an all-nighter because you were unwell? They’re all a testimony of how she puts you before her in everything she does!
5. You Make Her Tired

Not to guilt trip you or anything, but the fact is that being a mother can be tiring. It is physically exhausting and emotionally draining. The minute you become a mother, you become responsible not only for yourself but for this whole other human being as well — and this never ends no matter how old you become. Motherhood is a full-time job, no holidays, and no retirement!
6. Mama Knows Best… But Not Always

They say that mothers know best, but there have been times when your mother was absolutely clueless. Motherhood isn’t all black and white, and it doesn’t come with a rule book. Each child is different, and what works for one child won’t necessarily work for the other. This can be scary, and there have been moments when she probably freaked out but wouldn’t show you her fears!
7. Your First Day Of School Was Probably Her Worst Day

You weren’t the only one bawling your eyes out on your first day of school. Mama was internally screaming too. Watching your baby walk through those school gates can make you proud on the one hand but extremely scared and sad on the other.
8. When You Suffer, She Suffers Too

Be it the brawl you got into at school, or the terrible breakup that left you broken for months, your mother suffered alongside you as well. You might not have expressed clearly what the problem was, but the chances are that your mother sensed it and recognized that you were going through some extreme pain. And this can make her suffer as well. Sure she puts on a brave face to cajole and help you as much as she could in her capacity. That makes it all the more graceful of her to help you this way. No wonder when we slowly grow older we try hiding anything bad that has happened to us, as we know it will definitely hurt our beloved mother equally.
9. She Takes Pride In The Smallest Of Your Achievements

Every time you inform your mother of the little achievements of yours, she would take great pride in them. It might surprise us because these small feats are at times insignificant even to us. Parents watch their little ones grow and take great joy in all their achievements. From the day you take your first step, or your first words to the day start school or join a job, no feat is small and meaningless to the mother. Where else would you find such a person for whom you are the entire world?
10. You’re Always On The Top Of Her Mind

It might be that you are staying away from your parents and not being able to communicate with them as much as you’d like to. But rest assured that you are never forgotten by your mother. No matter how far you are or how occupied she herself is, the thoughts of her children are always on top of her mind. She is always a little worried about something bad happening to her children and at the same time happy that her children are doing well in life. So, next time you feel like you have neglected your mother, pick up that phone and call her ASAP. Trust us when we say that she would be the happiest person to hear your voice.
The beauty of every mother is that she takes the good days and the bad in her stride. It is safe to say that a mother’s love is unconditional because she goes through everything that motherhood throws her way without expecting anything in return.
