It was a special Saturday afternoon for one of India’s finest playback singers, Shreya Ghoshal, and her husband, Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya. They were blessed with a baby boy on May 22, 2021. The seven-time Filmfare Awards winner took to social media to tell everyone the good news.
In an Instagram post filled with gratitude, the singer went on to say, “God has blessed us with a precious baby boy this afternoon. It’s an emotion never felt before.” In the post, she said that her husband and the rest of the family are overjoyed. The singer and new mother thanked her fans for the countless blessings for her newborn baby.

Her good news was met with congratulatory messages from several notable figures from the music fraternity. Neeti Mohan, another well-renowned playback singer, responded to her post, congratulating her. She said it was “wonderful news” and hoped that both Goshal and the baby were doing well. Neeti Mohan sent her regards on behalf of herself and her family to Shreya’s husband, parents, and in-laws.
Another notable figure who congratulated her was singer-composer Shekhar Ravjiani. He said, “Congratulations!!! Big love.”

Shreya Ghoshal is one of the most popular, well-loved singers in the Indian music fraternity. Her fame, however, isn’t limited to the Indian audience. Governor Ted Strickland, on behalf of the United States state of Ohio, went on to declare June 26 in the year 2010 as ‘Shreya Ghoshal Day. Incidentally, 2017 was a special year for Ghoshal and her fans, as a wax figurine of hers came into fruition at the Madame Tussauds Museum — she was the first Indian singer to have this honor.
However, Shreya Ghoshal was not an overnight success — it took her years of hard work and dedication to get to where she is today. While her rise to fame began when she successfully won the hearts of people in the television reality show Sa Re Ga Ma, the days leading up to this took immense passion and perseverance.

Ghoshal’s mother was a constant source of support and encouragement — she used to sing to the notes of her mother’s Tanpura. When asked what her earliest memory regarding music was, she said that it was of her mother, Sarmistha Ghoshal. Calling her mother her ‘guru’, Shreya fondly recalls how she used to sing classical Bengali songs, often leaving her awestruck. Her mother, she says, is one of her best critics.
It is a joy to know that she, too, in her turn, has become a mother to a lovely baby boy.

Earlier this year, on March 4, 2021, the world-acclaimed singer had announced that she was pregnant. She told her eager fans that “baby Shreyaditya” was on its way. She went on to tell her fans that she needs all their love and blessings as she and her husband prepare themselves for this new chapter in their lives.
Super excited about her baby, the singer had shared another beautiful post about her new milestone around eight weeks back. She said, “Experiencing the most beautiful phase of my life. The divine miracle of God”.
