Smriti Khanna's Befitting Reply To Trolls, Who Targeted Her For Getting Back In Shape Post-Pregnancy

Body-shaming is a social evil that has existed way before the age of the internet and trolls. You can cite examples of medieval corsets to modern-day crash dieting. Many, if not all women have been a victim of this heinous crime at some point in their life. The only difference between body-shaming back then and now is that before people used to think they are doing you a favor, now they know it’s wrong. But they continue to do so because they can do it anonymously from the comfort of their couch.

Not even the seemingly perfect celebrities have escaped the curse of body-shaming, especially after they enter motherhood. Actresses like Neha Dhupia, Aishwarya Rai, and Sameera Reddy have proudly flaunted their post-pregnancy non-zero figures despite the jarring comments of the trolls. There are some actresses, like Kareena Kapoor Khan, who did quickly get back into shape, yet even that did not shield her from the negative comments online.

The most recent victim of these merciless online predators was Smriti Khanna. The actress is popularly known for her role as Ritika Zaveri in the Colors TV’s Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. The new mom was targeted and trolled with unpleasant comments that body-shamed her post-pregnancy appearance. The actress recently gave birth to a sweet baby girl and within 15 days she managed the amazing feat of getting back to her original self.

The actress posted a comparison selfie of pre and post-pregnancy. Everyone was amazed at the transformation, and comments, both negative and positive flooded her DM. The trolls suggested that she had used photoshop to achieve the figure she was flaunting on her social media. The actress clarified and debunked the claim by posting a mirror selfie. She also pointed out that she would not have a baby cot in her room if she did not have a baby to tend. The baby cot was visible in the background of the selfie.

Smriti Khanna gave an apt response that shut out the false claims of these trolls. The actress also gave her secret mantra on how she managed to get back into shape so fast after giving birth. She revealed that during the days of pregnancy she would practice yoga thrice a week. Also, being a self-claimed foodie, the actress never curbed her cravings but instead restrained the quantity of food she was indulging in. When the doctor strictly asked her to refrain from working out, the actress would ensure that throughout the day she completed 6000 steps. She also revealed that during pregnancy her pelvic girdle pain was so bad, that she could not even change sides without considerable effort.

Advising all the new mothers out there, Smriti Khanna said that yoga helps a lot during pregnancy. The actress strictly advocates against dieting during pregnancy. She added that instead of eating under the impression that you are eating for two, which most mothers tend to do, pregnant ladies should eat in moderate amounts and at regular intervals. She also encouraged pregnant women to eat healthy so that the baby can have access to proper nutrition when it’s needed.

It’s not that Smriti Khanna only reached out to the trolls. She also replied back to all the well-wishers that sent hearty congratulations her way. The new mother posted a selfie that said, “Thank you for so much love guys”, which was both heartwarming and encouraging. We wish her and her family all the happiness they deserve.
