It’s not easy being a single mom. With no one to share the responsibilities of parenting with, it is definitely going to take more effort and adjustment from your side to make it work.

2. Make It Worth It

She’s got a dozen things on her calendar. And she has somehow squeezed in a little time for herself. So, whenever she agrees on a date, make it worth her while by planning a fun date for her.

3. Her Kids Are Her Top Priority

One of the most important things to keep in mind for any man who enters her life, her kids are always going to be there with her. And they will always come first. So you will have to get to know them at some point down the road.

4. Don’t Compare It To Other Relationships You’ve Had In The Past

No matter how much she loves you and cares for you, she won’t be able to dedicate all of her time to one person. So, don’t expect her to spend the whole day with you lazing around in your home or watching the sunset.

5. All Her Decisions May Revolve Around Her Kids

She can be spontaneous and fun. But there are going to be times when she may have to run it by her kids or check her schedule before agreeing to go somewhere with you.

6. She Expects You To Be Supportive

With no one to co-parent, some days can be particularly stressful. She may even yell and scream to you about it. Even if you are not involved in the situation in any way, she just expects you to listen and be there for her.

7. Don’t Be Too Judgemental About Her Parenting Ways

You have seen them a few times, you might even be on good terms with them. But that doesn’t give you the right to be critical of how she chooses to raise her kids. So unless she asks for your opinion, try to respect her ways and be supportive.

8. Liking Her Kids May Take More Effort

Even if you love her with all your heart, you may not form an instant connection with her kids. Just be prepared to put in more genuine effort from your end and try to build a relationship with them. Remember that it is important that her kids like you too.

9. Don’t Be Jealous Of Her Ex

And even if you are, don’t give her a hard time because of it. She might have to contact him for divorce settlements, custody issues, or maybe to drop the kids off at his place. Or he may come to the house to pick up the kids. If she is on good terms with her ex, try to be more understanding and respectful of their relationship.

10. It Can Get Complicated

She might be your girlfriend, but she is still a single mother with responsibilities who is trying to make time and space for romance in her life. Cut her some slack if she has to cancel plans with you at the last minute or run to her kids in the middle of a date.

It is pretty easy to assume that a single mother is looking for a dad for her kids or waiting for someone to be the savior of her life, but she wants neither of those things. Rather she would want a man who is considerate and respectful of her situation and treats her like the strong and gorgeous woman she is.
