Baby showers are a special event. It’s an occasion hosted by the friends and family of the mom-to-be, to celebrate the new journey she is about to embark on. However, because of the pandemic, the nature of this event has changed drastically. Keeping in mind social distancing and safety measures, people prefer to organize baby showers virtually, which might be challenging. So here are a few ideas that will help you rock a virtual baby shower:
1. The Venue

You have to choose the platform on which you want to host the baby shower. Any online video conferencing platform would work well. You can create the event and share the link with your loved ones who can access it and join you from the comfort of their home.
2. Save The Memory
Most of these platforms have the option of recording the whole meeting so you can memorialize the event. It’s a great way to remember that despite the circumstances of your loved ones being far away and being amidst a pandemic, you made the best of it.
3. Choose The Games

Games like the pinata require your guests to be physically present. But if you want to conduct a quiz, it can be done virtually too. Therefore, choose the right kind of games. Delegate the responsibility of selecting the games to someone familiar with how the technology works, and you are good to go. You don’t have to stick to baby shower games. Include games like bingo so the older guests can have fun too.
4. Plan Ahead
Offline parties do not require detailed planning on the day of the event. If you have a rough idea of what you want to do, the rest can happen when you go with the flow. But when it’s an online platform, this becomes a lot more difficult. Therefore, plan ahead and assign tasks to people so that they know what they have to do during the event. Be it the food or the decor, make it something out of the box, and it’s sure to become memorable. Create a signature drink or dish and share the recipe virtually. You could also have a small cooking session with everyone, so your virtual guests feel even more a part of the event.
6. Get In The Mood
When it’s a virtual event, people tend to ignore the part to dress up. But insist that everyone attending the video call has to dress up, so it feels like a party. When someone is attending a party in their sweatpants, it doesn’t match the vibe (unless it’s a pajama/sweatpant party). One way to get your virtual guests to dress up is to make it a theme party.
7. Don’t Forget The Gifts

Traditionally, at a baby shower, the mom-to-be is “showered” with gifts, and you might think that it’s not possible when it’s an online event. But request your guests to send you the presents in advance so you can open them on the day of the event.
8. Include Entertainment
Just because you are having a virtual event, it doesn’t mean that you cannot have entertainment. You could invite a performer to join you virtually. Some other ideas include hiring a sketch artist, magician, tarot card reader, or musician.
9. Keep The Love Coming
