The Mother Who Delivered Her Baby In Coma!

We weren’t exaggerating when we compared childbirth to a miracle. Take the case of Beteena, for instance. Hailing from the state of Kerala in India, this 28-year-old woman had just completed her first trimester when a freak accident left her in a coma. Despite her pregnancy, she required immediate surgery since she suffered a cerebral trauma. The doctors had thought her little fetus will not survive the surgery. However, shockingly enough, the fetus continued to survive in his comatose mother’s body. This gave the doctors at the Carithas Hospital the confidence to support the pregnancy externally. What’s more? When her baby boy was delivered through C-section, Beteena came out of her coma after six long months upon hearing her baby’s first cry (1)! Such is the love of a mother!
Is She My Mother? Or Grandmother?

We often speak about how a mother would do anything for her child. One such mother is Kristine Casey who left everyone stunned when she offered to become the surrogate mother for her daughter, Sara. The Illinois couple, Sara Connell and her husband were trying to get pregnant for a long time without success. So, when they eventually decided to opt for surrogacy, 61-year-old Kristine stepped in to help her dear daughter. After conceiving through IVP, she not only delivered a healthy baby boy but also became an icon in her hometown of Illinois (2). Now, she’s both the mother and grandmother to baby Finnean.
The Couple Who Never Gave Up!

Women are often told that after a certain age they cannot have a baby since their biological clock is ticking. But recently, a 65-year-old woman from the Sailan district of Jammu & Kashmir broke this myth when she naturally gave birth to her second child – a healthy baby girl. The couple already had a son almost 10 years ago. The 80-year-old father, Hakim Din, considered it to be a gift from Allah. The local doctors confirmed that the baby and mother were doing fine, making her the oldest mother to conceive naturally (3).
Where Ignorance Certainly Wasn’t Bliss

What if you were pregnant but had no idea about it? Sounds impossible, doesn’t it? But this is exactly what happened to the British teenager, Jenika. This 19-year-old had no idea that she was pregnant what with her periods appearing regularly, no weight gain, no nausea or vomiting, or any such tell-tale signs of pregnancy. The morning when she went into labor, all she thought about her contractions was that they were due to constipation or periods. Therefore, she had rushed to the toilet. When her mother found her bleeding and tried to help, out popped baby Zara onto her grandmother’s hands (4)!

Ridca Stanescu, a Romanian beauty from the gypsy tribe, was all of 12 when she got married and delivered her daughter, Maria. Not surprising since it is a very old tradition in the gypsy culture. However, Ridca always encouraged her daughter to seek more from her life than just early marriage and motherhood. But life had other plans when Maria outdid her mother by delivering her son at the age of 11! While Ridca was a tad disappointed that her daughter could not do more with her life, she was admittedly happy about becoming a grandmother – at the age of just 25!
