I Too Thought My Mom Was A Superhero, Then She Fell Ill

There is no denying that our moms are our superheroes. The kind of things they do for us, the sacrifices, dedication, and ultimate patience that they have with us is nothing short of amazing. Not only do they take care of us but they also multi-task and juggle between a career and their responsibilities at home. Apart from all this, they cook delicious meals every day, clean the house, take care of our pets, comfort us, and protect us. They constantly put us before themselves and do it willingly for the rest of their lives. So, yes, we do place a superwoman value for our mothers and we would not be wrong.

However, there is one thing we tend to forget. Our mothers are human beings too. Just like every other human being, they want to be loved, cared for, and pampered sometimes. Most importantly they need a break too. But when it comes to mothers, is a break really a break? Even when they are sipping on their morning coffee, they have to cater to a crying child or think about what to prepare for breakfast. It sounds exhausting, doesn’t it? Yet our mothers do all of it ever so willingly day after day.

If we look around and observe the traits of every single mother, there are few things that they all have in common. They do not take a break, they do not like to ask for help and they are constantly putting others before them. It is clear that they are a blessing to every single one of our lives and there is no debate against that. But have you ever wondered what will happen when a mother falls sick? All hell breaks loose. Not with her. But with the house. Things disappear, other things break and the whole house is in chaos.

As kids, we did not have to worry about it. We didn’t even think about how our mothers go about their regular day even while being sick. But now that I have grown up, I’ve started being more attentive and I realized that no matter what happens, even when they are sick, these superhumans are just too selfless to put themselves first.

But when a mother falls ill, it makes everyone in the house realize how valuable she is and everything she does for the family. A ride of realizations dawns upon every member of the family and that’s probably the only time we see her as human. If you are used to having a mother who is constantly working, it becomes quite scary to see her in bed when she’s sick. It can really shake you up.

Human Beings But Better

Because of the roles our mothers have played in our lives, we don’t quite value their dedication and sacrifice. It takes a whole lot of strength, commitment, and patience to be a mother. And it does not ever end. But when our mothers fall ill, it is an eye-opener for us. Not only do we realize the wonders they achieve every single day but reality hits us like a brick reminding us that they are human. They need to be taken care of, they need attention and care, and they need to be pampered just like we all do while we are sick. If they are in pain, they cry and that breaks our heart. Even if we know they are sick, it’s hard for us to see them like that because they are constantly full of energy on other days.

So, what we can all learn from this is that our mothers are human beings too but they are better at it. They keep their moods aside and always cater to the needs of the family. They ensure everyone is happy and that gives them joy. While they do so much for us, the least we can do is remember it and reciprocate. Or at least remind them that they are awesome. Because they are better than us in everything, even in being human beings. Comment below and let us know what you think.
