Why Unhealthy Women Should Delay Pregnancy?

So, you’re planning to conceive? Well, that’s brilliant. You must be terribly excited about it and looking forward to being a proud mom. But, before you consider conception, have you made sure that you are “healthy enough” to go through with this pregnancy? Yes, you heard that right.

Why Delay Pregnancy?

According to a new NHS report, experts conclude that women who are obese, who drink, or those who smoke should consider a delayed pregnancy. Leading medical expert and Scotland director of the Wave Trust, Dr. Jonathan Sher says, “Every pregnant woman wants to deliver a healthy baby and avoid any pregnancy complications.”

The report by the NHS was based on an Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health initiative. Dr. Sher theorizes “ There are two ways of avoiding a high-risk pregnancy and an unhealthy baby. The first; do all you can to ensure the outcome is positive, and the second: don’t get pregnant.”

The report also studied what families, the community and the government were doing to help the next generation of parents.

Sometimes, it’s better to delay a pregnancy instead of opting to go ahead with one. The new report also maintains that delaying a pregnancy is the only logical step, at least until you can treat any underlying physiological and physiological problems. There are many reasons for delaying a pregnancy. Health problems, unwillingness to become pregnant, and the cost of raising a baby. All these play on the prospective parents’ heads.

However, if there are any health problems that can cause complications during childbirth or after that, you need to address them as soon as possible. The NHS report only throws more light on how important this situation can be. Right now, technology hasn’t yet discovered any interventions, which can boost both parent’s health before they decide to have a baby.

While we hope the best for you and wish that you did not have to delay pregnancy, let us know your or someone else’s experience if the pregnancy was delayed. We hope that would help a lot of moms across the globe!
